Cultural and religious festival in Val di Fassa exploring current affairs, faith, and culture
Summer Inspirations is the annual summer festival of culture, faith, and current affairs that enlivens the Val di Fassa, in the province of Trento, in the heart of the Trentino Dolomites. Originally launched by the valley's parishes, the event is now promoted by the Culture Commission of the Fassa Parishes (Deanery of Fassa) in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Trento and the Val di Fassa Tourist Board, reaching its seventeenth edition in 2026.
The program runs throughout July and August, involving all the main towns in the valley: from Moena to Canazei, passing through Soraga, Campitello, Mazzin, Alba, and the municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan, which hosts some of the most anticipated evenings in its hamlets of Pera, Pozza, and Vigo. Parish churches, the Pieve di San Giovanni in Vigo, and the Oratory Theater in Pozza become meeting places where the local community and holidaymakers gather to reflect together.
Each edition offers a blend of themes ranging from current events to spirituality, and from society to culture. The program features conversations with journalists and scholars, missionary testimonies, book presentations, and musical moments. There are also guided tours of the churches of Fassa, providing an opportunity to discover the artistic and historical treasures scattered throughout the valley's hamlets.
Summer Inspirations offers those vacationing in Val di Fassa a different way to experience the mountains: beyond hiking and landscapes, it provides moments for thought and dialogue. The backdrop of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site, accompanies evenings that combine reflection and beauty, forging a strong bond between the territory, its communities, and its Christian roots.
The 2026 program opens on Thursday, July 16 at 9:00 PM in the parish church of Pera (San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan) with the meeting "Stories of Yesterday, Challenges of Tomorrow," featuring Marco Girardo, editor-in-chief of Avvenire, and Diego Andreatta, editor-in-chief of Vita Trentina. The underlying theme of the edition is the dialogue with the great issues of the present in the light of the Gospel, covering peace, information, and artificial intelligence.
Among the events in the municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan: on July 28 at the Oratory Theater in Pozza, "Mercy, Peace, and Artificial Intelligence" with Andrea Tornielli, editorial director of the Vatican media; on July 31 in the Pieve di San Giovanni in Vigo, the musical elevation "Ad Jesum per Mariam" with meditations drawn from the writings of Hildegard of Bingen; and another event in Pozza on August 4. The evenings continue in Soraga, Moena, Campitello, and Canazei until August 22.
These meetings are accompanied by guided tours of the churches of Fassa throughout July and August.
Events take place in the churches and theaters of the various towns in Val di Fassa (Trentino). Evenings in the municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan are held in Pera (parish church), Pozza (Oratory Theater), and Vigo (Pieve di San Giovanni).
Val di Fassa can be reached by car via the A22 Brenner motorway (exits Ora/Egna or Bolzano Nord) or from Val di Fiemme. During the summer, Trentino Trasporti public bus lines connect the towns in the valley.
Meetings are generally free to attend. The detailed program with times and venues is published by the Archdiocese of Trento and the Val di Fassa Tourist Board.
