About Ad Alta Voce

Ad Alta Voce is the summer cultural festival that brings the Piazza del Comune in Pozza di Fassa to life every Sunday evening, located in the municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan, Trentino. Curated and hosted by journalist Virna Pierobon, the event features encounters with writers, mountaineers, explorers, woodsmen, and scholars who share stories of the mountains, their history, and their protagonists. An open-air dialogue, free of charge, set amidst the Dolomites of Val di Fassa.

A series of talks beneath the Dolomites

Ad Alta Voce is the cultural festival that accompanies the summer in Val di Fassa, in the municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa-Sèn Jan, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Every Sunday evening, from mid-July to early September, the Piazza del Comune in Pozza di Fassa transforms into an open-air lounge where the audience meets the evening's guests: writers, mountaineers, explorers, journalists, woodsmen, and scholars who share the mountains, their stories, and their key figures.

The spirit of the event

The festival is curated and hosted by journalist Virna Pierobon, who describes its deeper meaning: the exchange, reflection, and direct dialogue with guests become authentic opportunities for cultural growth. Stories are brought to life with the support of books, images, and documents, covering topics ranging from mountaineering and the environment to sports and current affairs.

How it works

  • Events every Sunday, starting at 9:15 PM
  • Main venue: Piazza del Comune in Pozza di Fassa
  • In case of bad weather, meetings move to the Town Hall Council Chamber
  • Free admission to all evenings
  • Organized by the Comitato Manifestazioni di Sèn Jan

The evenings are often accompanied by a partner bookstore, allowing attendees to purchase the authors' works and have them signed by the protagonists at the end of the sessions.

Val di Fassa, Ladin land

The festival is part of the rich summer calendar of Val di Fassa, a Ladin valley in the Trentino Dolomites dominated by the Marmolada massif and the Vajolet Towers. Many evenings weave together mountain tales, local memories, and reflections on the climate and alpine environment, offering residents and tourists a unique way to experience summer nights among the peaks of Trentino.
