The band tradition of Moena

In the heart of Val di Fassa, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), the town of Moena celebrates its deep-rooted band tradition every summer with a series of parades and musical band concerts. It is one of those events that captures the soul of a mountain village: brass instruments echoing between the houses, historic uniforms, and locals gathering in the squares as evening falls.

The star of the show is the Banda Comunale di Moena, joined by other ensembles from the valley and the wider Trentino region. Each evening feels like a community celebration: first a parade through the town streets, followed by the concert itself in one of the village squares or districts.

Where and when

Concerts are primarily held in Piaz de Ramon, the main square of Moena, but the festival also reaches out to the local districts and hamlets: the Rione de Ciajeole, the hamlet of Forno, and other charming corners of the town. This journey through the neighborhoods is part of the event's charm, bringing music directly to where the community lives.

The featured bands

In addition to the Banda Comunale di Moena, the 2026 program hosts the Banda Musega da Vich (Vigo di Fassa) and the Banda di Trodena, from the German-speaking municipality in Trentino-Alto Adige. The season ideally opens with the grand Concert of the Bands of the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, which gathers dozens of musicians in Moena every year for a valley-wide rally.
