CineSpeyer is the open-air film festival that enlivens the Giardini Speyer in Ravenna every June, in the heart of the provincial capital of Emilia-Romagna. Now in its fifth edition in 2026, the event offers completely free outdoor screening evenings, dedicated to quality cinema capable of combining entertainment and reflection on highly topical social issues.
A Festival of Civil Commitment
What makes CineSpeyer different from a simple summer arena is its civil vocation. Each evening addresses a specific theme — anti-mafia, environment, migration, human rights, social inclusion, gender equality — and is curated by a local association or cooperative from the Ravenna area, which briefly introduces the film to the audience. The selection alternates between documentaries and feature films, both Italian and international, chosen for their ability to stimulate awareness and debate.
Who Organizes
The festival is promoted by the CittAttiva service of the Municipality of Ravenna and the Social Cooperative Villaggio Globale, with the patronage of the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Ravenna and the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Romagna Acque, and the cooperatives Cidas and San Vitale. A network of local associations from Ravenna — including Libera Ravenna, Legambiente, Emergency, Agevolando, and numerous APS — revolves around the project, making CineSpeyer a true laboratory of active citizenship.
Where and When
Screenings are held at the Giardini Speyer, a green area near the historic center of Ravenna, every Tuesday and Thursday starting at 9:00 PM. Admission is free. In case of bad weather, evenings may be postponed or canceled: it is always advisable to check for updates on the official CittAttiva channels.
A Different Summer
More than just a festival, CineSpeyer has become an anticipated event of the Ravenna summer over the years: an opportunity to gather outdoors, enjoy a good film, and discuss issues that concern everyone. A gentle and popular way to bring culture to the neighborhoods, outside the cinemas, into the life of the city.
CineSpeyer — edition 2026
The fifth edition of CineSpeyer takes place from June 9 to 30, 2026 at the Giardini Speyer in Ravenna, with free screenings every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 PM. Seven evenings, seven themes, seven local associations introducing the films: from anti-mafia to social inclusion, from human rights to migration, up to gender equality. The festival is promoted by CittAttiva (Municipality of Ravenna) and the Social Cooperative Villaggio Globale, with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Romagna Acque, and the cooperatives Cidas and San Vitale.

Where
Giardini Speyer, near the historic center of Ravenna (RA), Emilia-Romagna. Area easily reachable on foot from the train station and the center.
How to get there
By train: Ravenna station, on the Adriatic line, a short walk away. By car: Ravenna exit of the E55/SS16, parking near the center. By bike: Ravenna is a bike-friendly city, the Gardens are easily accessible.
Admission and Times
Free admission. Screenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 9:00 PM. In case of rain, check for any changes.
