A Five-Month Summer in Gambettola
Il Bosco Ritrovato is the most important summer review in Gambettola, a small municipality in the province of Forlì-Cesena, in the heart of Romagna in Emilia-Romagna. Promoted by the Municipal Administration together with numerous local associations, the event transforms the town's squares, parks, and cultural spaces into a widespread stage for over four months, with more than fifty events ranging from cinema to literature, from theatre to music, from games to food and wine.
The Fellini-esque Heart of the Town
Gambettola is deeply connected to the figure of Federico Fellini, who spent part of his childhood here. It is no coincidence that many of the review's venues bear his name: Casa Fellini, the Arena Fellini, and Parco Fellini are among the main event locations. The memory of the great director from Rimini serves as a common thread for a programme that focuses on film culture, Romagna roots, and a sense of community.
The Many Souls of the Programme
- Il Cinema Ritrovato (Rediscovered Cinema): auteur screenings in collaboration with the Bologna Film Archive, between Piazza Pertini and Casa Fellini.
- Le Parole nell'Arena (Words in the Arena) and Sentieri di carta (Paper Trails): literary encounters for adults and children at the Arena Fellini.
- Burattini & Figure (Puppets & Figures) by Teatro del Drago, in the town's squares.
- Le Notti del Bosco (Forest Nights): Wednesday evenings in July with markets, food, music, and special shop openings.
- Concerts, exhibitions, and tournaments that accompany the entire season into autumn.
A Celebration for the Entire Community
Almost all events are free admission, designed to involve families, children, culture enthusiasts, and the curious of all ages. From evening screenings to dinners in the square, from workshops for the little ones to urban art exhibitions, Il Bosco Ritrovato is how Gambettola experiences its summer together, valuing local associations and the Romagna identity of the territory.
The Rediscovered Forest — edition 2026
The 2026 edition confirms the successful formula of the review: over fifty events spread over five months, from June to the end of October, in the squares and cultural spaces of Gambettola. The year is made special by the bicentenary of Bottega Pascucci, celebrated on Saturday, August 1st, with the widespread event Il Bosco Incantato (Enchanted Forest), which enjoys the patronage of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
The programme combines auteur cinema, literary encounters, puppet theatre, band concerts, exhibitions, and convivial moments, confirming the event's Fellini-esque and community-oriented spirit.

How to get here
Gambettola is located along the Via Emilia, equidistant between Cesena and Forlì. By car, take the Cesena Nord or Valle del Rubicone exit from the A14 motorway. By train, Gambettola station is on the Bologna-Rimini-Ancona line.
