About Predappio 100

Set up in the rooms of the Birthplace of Benito Mussolini in Predappio, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, the exhibition “Predappio 100 – The Years of Foundation: 1925-1929” retraces the birth of the so-called Predappio Nuova, the inhabited centre designed by architect Florestano Di Fausto after the relocation of the ancient nucleus of Predappio Alta. Curated by Prof. Ulisse Tramonti with the coordination of ATRIUM, the exhibition brings together documents, drawings, posters, and audiovisual materials that recreate the urban face of a symbolic city of the Italian 20th century.

An exhibition on the centenary of Predappio Nuova

In the heart of the Romagna Apennines, in the Municipality of Predappio (province of Forlì-Cesena, Emilia-Romagna), the exhibition “Predappio 100 – The Years of Foundation: 1925-1929” celebrates the centenary of the foundation of the so-called Predappio Nuova. The exhibition is set up in the rooms of the Birthplace of Benito Mussolini, on via Varano Costa Nuova, and is promoted by the Municipal Administration of Predappio.

The urban planning project by Florestano Di Fausto

The exhibition path focuses on the planning carried out in Predappio Nuova by architect Florestano Di Fausto and on the first constructions that affected the territory from its foundation in 1925 until 1929. After the relocation of the settlement from the ancient nucleus of Predappio Alta to the hamlet of Dovia, a new centre took shape, designed according to the urban planning standards of the time: squares, public buildings, road axes, and monumental architectures that still characterize the town today.

Documents, images, and memory

The exhibition brings together project drawings, posters, paintings, and archival materials, accompanied by video documentation created by Renato Billi and Riccardo Salvetti and a historical documentary from the Istituto LUCE. Two dates mark the narrative: Mussolini's visit on April 15, 1923, and the official foundation on August 30, 1925. The project is curated by Prof. Ulisse Tramonti, with the collaboration of researchers, historians, and collectors, and with the coordination of ATRIUM.

A study path, not a celebration

The initiative is proposed as an opportunity for historical and urbanistic study of a complex chapter of the Italian 20th century. Set up in one of the most discussed places of national memory, the exhibition invites visitors to critically examine the transformations that shaped the current Predappio, a destination for scholars, tourists, and curious visitors from all over Italy and abroad every year.

Predappio 100 — edition 2026

Re-proposed by the Municipal Administration after great public response, the exhibition “Predappio 100 – The Years of Foundation: 1925-1929” reopens on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the rooms of the Birthplace of Benito Mussolini and remains open until January 6, 2027, with seasonal hours. The exhibition, curated by Prof. Ulisse Tramonti with ATRIUM, retraces the urban planning of Predappio Nuova by Florestano Di Fausto.

The 2026 edition of the exhibition “Predappio 100” reopens on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Birthplace of Benito Mussolini, on via Varano Costa Nuova in Predappio (FC), and continues until January 6, 2027.
