A festival that changes the perspective on disability

Socialità in Festival is a Susa Valley event that puts social inclusion and a different way of narrating disability at the heart of its mission. It takes place in Avigliana and other towns in the valley, in the province of Turin, with the Teatro Eugenio Fassino in Avigliana serving as its main hub.

The event was born from the experience of young people with disabilities who attended cultural events at the historic Valsusa Filmfest and wanted a space of their own to offer a different viewpoint. Organized by the Valsusa Filmfest Association, the festival has evolved into a true civic laboratory, built alongside people with disabilities and inspired by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

A widespread event across the valley's towns

Socialità in Festival is a traveling event that involves several towns in the lower and middle Susa Valley, including Avigliana, Condove, Bussoleno, Sant'Antonino di Susa, Almese, and Oulx. Each year, the calendar rotates through different venues—from municipal theatres to cinemas, and community centers to multi-purpose halls—to bring inclusive culture as close as possible to local communities.

Cinema, theatre, music, and talks

The program is multidisciplinary and combines various forms of expression:

• Cinema: Screenings of films and documentaries addressing disability and inclusion, often featuring directors and special guests.
• Theatre: Performances by companies such as Fabula Rasa / Teatro Senza Confini, which have been working on inclusion through the stage for years.
• Music: Concerts and live performances featuring bands that make diversity their strength.
• Talks and round tables: Discussions on social networks, independent living projects, and the rights of people with disabilities.
• Book presentations: Dialogues with authors and witnesses on autism, neurodivergence, and inclusion.

Free admission and civic commitment

All Socialità in Festival events are free to attend, often operating on a voluntary donation basis. The festival is made possible through the involvement of local municipalities, families, associations, and cooperatives, and it stands as one of the most cherished cultural events for the community of Avigliana and the Susa Valley in Piedmont.
