The Monferrato cultural festival held in the former church of San Remigio
VilladeArTi is the cultural festival created by the municipal administration of Villadeati, a small hillside village in the Monferrato region in the province of Alessandria, Piedmont. From May to October, the festival brings the village to life with a calendar packed with theatre, music, fiction, cinema, art, and photography, transforming a town of just a few hundred inhabitants into a landmark for culture in the Monferrato territory.
The 2026 edition, the fourth, is developed around three keywords: relationships, beauty, and hospitality. The full calendar was presented to the public on April 30th, on the eve of the inauguration. The festival offers a programme that weaves together live performances, book presentations, concerts, outdoor film screenings, and exhibitions, with a special focus on themes of memory, identity, and female talent.
The beating heart of the event is the former church of San Remigio, at via San Remigio 2: a deconsecrated site with a strong evocative power, which serves as an intimate and secluded setting for evening performances. The space, with its acoustics and atmosphere, is an integral part of the festival experience.
The 2026 festival opened on May 1st with Elettra – Il dramma delle priorità , a monologue written, directed, and performed by Alessandra Barbonetti, a production of the Teatro Stabile d'Abruzzo, dedicated to family bonds and the hierarchy of priorities. Highlights of the season include:
VilladeArTi is promoted by the Municipality of Villadeati with the patronage of the Gruppo Feltrinelli, and is the result of the work of the municipal administration led by Mayor Angelo Ferro and Deputy Mayor for Culture Riccardo Sorisio. The event confirms the vocation of Monferrato — a UNESCO World Heritage hilly landscape — as a land of culture, where even small villages can offer high-quality artistic programming.
