Zero-mile flavors from Val di Fiemme, every Wednesday throughout the summer in Piazza Italia
The Cavalese Farmers' Market is the summer event that brings the best of mountain agriculture to Piazza Italia, in the historic center of the Val di Fiemme capital. Every Wednesday morning, from early hours until noon, local producers' stalls transform the square into an authentic showcase of Trentino-South Tyrol flavors. It is a zero-mile market, designed to shorten the distance between grower and buyer: the stalls are managed directly by the valley's farmers, breeders, and beekeepers.
The market's offerings reflect the richness of the valley's alpine environment. You will find everything from seasonal fruits and vegetables to artisanal jams and fruit juices, as well as mountain cheeses and local meats. There is also a fish section with freshwater products, honey and beekeeping derivatives, as well as medicinal plants and organic produce. Shopping here is a way to bring home the genuine spirit of the mountains.
One of the distinctive features of the Cavalese Farmers' Market is the origin of its producers, who come not only from Val di Fiemme but also from the neighboring areas of South Tyrol and Primiero. This variety makes the market a meeting point for different agricultural realities, all united by the same mountain culture and commitment to quality. Strolling through the stalls means discovering stories of small family businesses, asking for advice on how to use a product, and tasting the seasonality of the Dolomites.
Set in the living room of Cavalese, a town in the province of Trento, the market is beloved by both residents and tourists vacationing in the valley. The setting of Piazza Italia, surrounded by historic buildings and overlooking the peaks of the Lagorai and Latemar ranges, adds charm to a morning of slow and conscious shopping. It is the ideal opportunity to combine discovering the historic center of Cavalese with a gastronomic experience that celebrates the work of farmers and the agricultural tradition of Trentino-South Tyrol.
The market is held every Wednesday during the summer, typically from July to August, in the morning. For the 2026 edition, the dates are scheduled from July 8th to August 26th, every Wednesday morning in Piazza Italia.
