About Castrofilippo Carnival

The Castrofilippo Carnival is one of the oldest celebrations in the province of Agrigento. Along Viale Bonfiglio in Castrofilippo, traveling allegorical floats and masked groups parade, featuring costumes handcrafted by the town's skilled artisans. With musical evenings, masquerade balls, children's entertainment, and a costume competition, this Sicilian village transforms into a grand open-air stage that brings together families, local associations, and visitors from neighboring towns.

The Castrofilippo Carnival

The Castrofilippo Carnival is one of the most cherished and historic traditions in the province of Agrigento. Every year, in the small town of Castrofilippo, nestled in the Sicilian hinterland, the streets come alive with color, music, and joy as allegorical floats and masked groups parade along Viale Bonfiglio.

Allegorical floats and handcrafted masks

The event stands out for two elements that are the pride of the community: the quality of the masks, all handcrafted by the skilled artists and families of Castrofilippo, and the originality of the allegorical floats. These large, traveling floats—the result of months of hard work by local associations—parade along the route accompanied by masked groups, often joined by creations from nearby towns like Canicattì and Racalmuto.

A Carnival for everyone

  • Parades of allegorical floats and masked groups along Viale Bonfiglio;
  • Musical evenings with masquerade balls and DJ sets;
  • Entertainment and activities dedicated to children;
  • Costume competition, with awards for the most beautiful creations in various categories.

A tradition that unites the town

Promoted by the Municipality of Castrofilippo in collaboration with local associations, the Carnival is a defining event that involves the entire community, from schoolchildren to the adults dedicated to building the floats. Unlike other carnivals, Castrofilippo often celebrates after the traditional dates, extending the festive season in the heart of Sicily and attracting visitors from across the Agrigento province.
