The traditional autumn fair in Favara, blending trade, agriculture, and craftsmanship
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The October Fair is one of the most deeply rooted events in the calendar of Favara, a town in the province of Agrigento just a few kilometers from the regional capital in Sicily. Organized by the Municipality of Favara, it traditionally takes place in the last week of October and has for generations marked the end of the local fair season before winter sets in.
The fair's origins are deeply tied to the agricultural and rural roots of the Favara territory. While it began as a livestock fair and a market for local produce, it has transformed over time into a major community commercial festival, while still maintaining a strong connection to agriculture, olive growing, and local craftsmanship.
For a few days, the town center takes on a new look: stalls and stands occupy Viale Ambrosini, Villa Ambrosini, Piazza Lando Conti, Via Capitano Callea, and the surrounding streets, while the large funfair is set up in the designated amusement area. Each year, the fair requires a reorganization of local traffic, with alternative routes and restrictions implemented by the municipal administration to manage the influx of visitors.
More than just a shopping opportunity, the October Fair is a meeting point for the Favara community and neighboring towns. Amidst the stalls, the aromas of street food, and the lights of the funfair, one can breathe in the authentic atmosphere of Sicilian fairs, where popular tradition, commerce, and social life intertwine. It is the perfect occasion to discover Favara, also known for the Farm Cultural Park and its historic center, combining a city visit with the experience of a fair with an ancient flavor.
The 2026 October Fair in Favara is expected, according to tradition, in the last week of October. At the moment, the Municipality of Favara has not yet published the official dates or the program for the 2026 edition.
Based on previous editions, the fair is expected to feature street trade with over one hundred stalls in the town center, stands for local produce and dining, local crafts, the Sunday Agriculture and Craft Fair, and the large funfair. Information will be updated as soon as it is released by the municipal administration.
Favara is located in the province of Agrigento, about 10 km from the capital. By car, it can be reached via the SS640 (Agrigento-Caltanissetta); the most convenient train stations are in Agrigento, which are then connected by local bus lines. The nearest airport is Palermo «Falcone Borsellino» (about 2 hours away).
On the days of the event, the Municipality implements a traffic plan with alternative routes and restrictions on the affected streets (Viale Ambrosini, Piazza Lando Conti, Via Capitano Callea, and surrounding areas). It is recommended to follow the signage and park in the designated areas.
Access to the fair is free. The funfair attractions are subject to charges according to the individual operators' rates.
