About Castello d'Autore

Castello d'Autore is the summer music festival that brings the best of Italian singer-songwriter music to the stage of the Rocca Pisana in Scarlino, in the province of Grosseto. Organized by Ad Arte Spettacoli for the municipal administration, it offers a handful of event-evenings each year dedicated to great songwriters and tributes to their work, set in a stunning medieval backdrop overlooking the Maremma. The 2026 edition celebrates the poetry of Ivan Graziani and the legendary Battisti-Mogol partnership.

Castello d'Autore: singer-songwriter music in the Maremma

Castello d'Autore is the summer music festival hosted by the Municipality of Scarlino, in the province of Grosseto, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma. The evenings take place in the evocative Rocca Pisana, the ancient fortress that dominates the village and offers an open view of the countryside and the sea. The festival is organized by Ad Arte Spettacoli on behalf of the municipal administration and has carved out a prominent place in the "Scarlino Estate" calendar over the years.

A tribute to Italian singer-songwriters

The common thread of the event is the canzone d'autore (singer-songwriter tradition), with a particular focus on Italian music from the seventies and eighties. Each edition features a select number of high-quality concerts, often dedicated to great names in Italian music or tribute shows that revisit their repertoire. The intimate setting of the fortress, with the audience seated in numbered spots, enhances the listening experience and creates a direct connection between artists and spectators.

The 2026 edition

The 2026 edition of Castello d'Autore features two evenings. On July 24th, Filippo Graziani takes the stage with the show "Ottanta. Buon compleanno Ivan", the tour with which the singer-songwriter celebrates the eightieth birthday of his father, Ivan Graziani, re-proposing his most famous tracks and lesser-known gems in new arrangements that bridge generations. On August 2nd, it is time for Gianmarco Caroccia with "Emozioni", a journey through about twenty songs written by Lucio Battisti and Mogol, a true musical biography of one of the most important partnerships in the history of Italian pop music. Both concerts start at 9:30 PM.

The Rocca Pisana and Scarlino Estate

The Rocca Pisana in Scarlino is the natural stage for the festival: a medieval fortress that hosts concerts, theater, and other events during the summer as part of the Municipality's rich seasonal program. Castello d'Autore thus fits into a broader calendar that brings the village to life from June to September with music, literature, and live performances, representing one of the most appreciated cultural offerings of the Maremma summer in Tuscany.

Why attend

  • Tribute shows to the great songwriters of the seventies and eighties.
  • Numbered seating and an intimate atmosphere at the Rocca Pisana.
