About Chamber Music Festival

In the summer of 2026, the First Summer Chamber Music Festival debuts in Colle di Val d'Elsa. This new municipal project brings internationally renowned ensembles and performers to the most evocative spots in the historic center between July and September. Four evening events, ranging from the Garden of Arts at the Archaeological Museum to the Church of Santa Maria in Canonica, blend Viennese classicism, German romanticism, and 20th-century works in a dialogue between music and heritage in the heart of the Val d'Elsa, in the province of Siena.

A new music festival in Colle di Val d'Elsa

In the summer of 2026, a new project dedicated to great chamber music takes shape in the heart of the historic center of Colle di Val d'Elsa, in the province of Siena. The First Summer Chamber Music Festival, promoted by the Municipality, hosts internationally acclaimed ensembles and performers between July and September, with programs spanning from classicism to romanticism and the 20th century. The initiative aims to introduce audiences to classical music while attracting high-quality cultural tourism, showcasing the historic and architectural heritage of the city of crystal.

Evocative venues between art and acoustics

The first three concerts take place in the Garden of Arts of the "Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli" Archaeological Museum, while the final concert is hosted in the Church of Santa Maria in Canonica. These spaces were chosen for their historical, architectural, and acoustic value, creating a dialogue between music and cultural heritage that represents the very core of the festival. All events begin at 9:00 PM.

The program of the four concerts

The lineup for the first edition offers a journey through the great masterpieces of the chamber repertoire:

  • Wednesday, July 8 โ€” Inaugural concert with the Quartetto di Fiesole, pairing Anton Webern's "Langsamer Satz" with Franz Schubert's famous Piano Quintet in A major D.667, "The Trout".
  • Tuesday, July 14 โ€” I Cameristi Toscani present a lively and eclectic program, featuring Hermann Zilcher's "Variations on a Theme by Mozart", Alessandro Centazzo's "Italian Fantasy", Astor Piazzolla's tango nuevo, and Ettore Pozzoli's "Folk Songs of Yesteryear".
  • Tuesday, July 21 โ€” The Dynamis Piano Quartet contrasts Viennese classicism with late German romanticism, performing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Quartet K.478 and Richard Strauss's Quartet Op. 13.
  • Sunday, September 13 โ€” Closing concert in the Church of Santa Maria in Canonica with the Quartetto Adorno, one of the most highly regarded Italian ensembles internationally, dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven's Quartet Op. 132 and Robert Schumann's Piano Quintet Op. 44.

A first step toward a true festival

The festival represents the first step of a journey that the municipal administration intends to consolidate in the coming years, with the goal of building a full-fledged Chamber Music Festival. The initiative is part of the rich summer cultural offering of Colle di Val d'Elsa, a town in the Val d'Elsa also known for its crystal-making tradition, and helps turn the historic center into a natural stage for great music.
