About Caoria Festival

The Caoria Festival is the patronal feast of the village of Caoria, in the municipality of Canal San Bovo, dedicated to Saint John Nepomucene. Organized by the local Alpini group in the green heart of the Vanoi Valley, it blends religious tradition, typical Alpine cuisine, and festive moments: from bell concerts to processions, and from dance evenings to the food stalls under the Alpini marquee.

A patronal feast in the heart of the Vanoi Valley

The Caoria Festival is the patronal feast of the village of Caoria, in the municipality of Canal San Bovo, in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Dedicated to Saint John Nepomucene, the community's patron saint, it takes place every May in the picturesque setting of the Vanoi Valley, one of the most authentic and hidden valleys in Trentino, nestled between the Dolomites and the Lagorai chain.

Tradition, faith, and Alpine conviviality

The event is carefully organized by the Caoria Alpini Group, the beating heart of the village's social life. The festival weaves together the religious dimension of the patronal feast with community and social gatherings: the traditional bell concert (campanò), the solemn Holy Mass, and the procession through the village streets mark the moments of devotion, while the food stalls and musical evenings bring the festival area to life.

Typical Alpine cuisine under the marquee

One of the undisputed highlights is the food stall set up under the Alpini marquee, serving typical Alpine dishes accompanied by Bavarian beer and plenty of drinks. The kitchen remains open throughout the festival days, offering visitors traditional local dishes in an atmosphere of authentic mountain hospitality.

Music, entertainment, and activities for everyone

The evenings at the Caoria Festival are dedicated to dancing and live music, with bands and orchestras enlivening the marquee until late. The program also includes entertainment such as cabaret at the parish theater, live cover music, bouncy castles, and games for children. A curious local tradition is the guessing game for the weight of deer antlers recovered in the Caoria wildlife area, which testifies to the village's deep bond with nature and the surrounding mountains.

An opportunity to discover Caoria and the Vanoi Valley

Attending the Caoria Festival is also a great chance to visit the village and its treasures: the Great War Museum, the taxidermy and nativity scene exhibitions, and the Vanoi ethnographic trail house. An event that tells the story of an Alpine community proud of its roots, amidst faith, tradition, and a love for the mountains.
