Trekking between the village and vineyards with tastings at the Tenuta di Castelfalfi
Every last weekend of May, the Tenuta di Castelfalfi opens the doors of its agricultural estate for Cantine Aperte, one of Italy's most famous and beloved wine tourism events, promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino Toscana. The event takes place in the scenic setting of the ancient village of Castelfalfi, in the municipality of Montaione, in the province of Florence, nestled in the Empolese-Valdelsa hills on the border between the provinces of Florence, Pisa, and Siena.
In Castelfalfi, Cantine Aperte is more than just a classic cellar tour: the estate offers Castelfalfi Hiking & Wine, a guided itinerary that blends trekking, landscape, and tasting. The route starts at the Wine Shop and winds through the village's iconic landmarks โ the Church of San Floriano, the Rocca, and the Medici Garden โ before continuing through vineyards and olive groves to the final tasting.
The walk, of medium-easy difficulty, lasts approximately 2โ2.5 hours and is designed for those who want to discover the area at a slow pace, immersing themselves in the Tuscan hilly landscape. At the end of the route, participants are welcomed for a tasting of three organic labels from the estate, accompanied by stories about the work in the vineyard and cellar. This is the philosophy of the edition: regenerative wine tourism that focuses on the relationship between wine, nature, and well-being.
Cantine Aperte is just one of the many events that bring Castelfalfi to life between spring and summer: throughout the months, the village hosts art Sundays, antique markets, outdoor wellness experiences, sunset musical events, and stargazing evenings. Castelfalfi confirms itself as a destination where nature, culture, and conviviality intertwine, offering an immersive journey into the identity of this corner of Tuscany.
The experience is suitable for couples, friends, and families who love walking and desire an authentic connection with the Tuscan countryside, away from the more crowded tourist spots. Each session hosts a limited number of participants to ensure a curated and personal experience: booking is mandatory.
On Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31, 2026, the Tenuta di Castelfalfi participated in Cantine Aperte, the national initiative of the Movimento Turismo del Vino. The 2026 edition focused on regenerative tourism, with a special emphasis on immersion in the landscape and outdoor well-being.
The heart of the proposal was the Castelfalfi Hiking & Wine experience: a guided walk of medium-easy difficulty, lasting about 2โ2.5 hours, starting from the Wine Shop and passing by the Church of San Floriano, the Rocca, and the Medici Garden, before continuing through vineyards and olive groves.
