Two paths: the Nativity and the Sicily of yesteryear

The event is structured into two narrative itineraries that complement each other. The first is the sacred representation of the Nativity, set in the suggestive frame of the Church of San Michele, rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake. The second is the Vizzini nativity, which celebrates the island's crafts and traditions: you will encounter the barber, the shoemaker, the baker with freshly baked bread, women kneading flour, embroidering, or hanging laundry, and 'u cufinaru weaving wicker baskets. The journey concludes with the arrival of the Three Wise Men on horseback.

Verga's characters come to life

In the heart of Borgo Cunziria, the original setting of Cavalleria Rusticana, the episodes and characters dear to Verga take shape: beyond the famous novella, you will meet figures drawn from Jeli the Shepherd, The Lover of Gramigna, History of a Blackcap, Nedda, The She-Wolf, and Mazzarò. These living tableaux frame the grotto of the Baby Jesus, in a rare interweaving of Christmas devotion and literary memory.
