Two days of flavors, wine, and culture in the village of Montescudaio
Every May, the historic center of Montescudaio, a small hilltop village in the Province of Pisa, comes to life with Borgo in Mostra โ Where Local Products are Born, a food and wine festival celebrating the excellence of the Val di Cecina. For two days, the town's streets and squares turn into an open-air trail of taste, where visitors can meet local producers directly and discover the richness of a land defined by agriculture, vineyards, and olive groves.
The event's common thread is the typical products of the Tuscan coast: wine from the Montescudaio denomination, extra virgin olive oil, bread, cured meats, and honey. It is no coincidence that Montescudaio is part of the national 'Cittร del Vino' (City of Wine) and 'Cittร dell'Olio' (City of Oil) circuits, and the event is held under the patronage of the Tuscany Region. The festival is the result of a collaboration between the Municipality of Montescudaio, the Pro Loco, the DOC Wine Consortium, and local associations.
Borgo in Mostra is more than just tastings: the first day is dedicated to culture and landscape exploration, featuring a scenic walk through the production areas, a conference on food and wine tourism, and an evening celebration with folk dancing in the charming Piazzale del Castello. The second day is the gourmet heart of the event, with the village's main street transformed into a large open-air restaurant.
The setting for the event is an authentic medieval Tuscan village, overlooking the hills of the Val di Cecina, just a few kilometers from the sea of the Etruscan Coast. Visiting Borgo in Mostra means combining the pleasure of the table with the discovery of a town rich in history, located in one of the most evocative areas of the Province of Pisa and Tuscany.
The 2026 edition of Borgo in Mostra enlivened the village of Montescudaio over the weekend of May 23-24, confirming the successful formula that blends culture, landscape, and taste. The theme 'Where Local Products are Born' highlighted the wine, oil, bread, cured meats, and honey of the Val di Cecina, with the participation of local producers and the support of the Municipality, the Pro Loco, and the DOC Wine Consortium.
Montescudaio is located in the Province of Pisa, in the hills of the Val di Cecina. By car, it can be reached via the SS1 Aurelia, taking the Cecina exit and following signs for Montescudaio. The nearest train station is Cecina, on the Tyrrhenian line, from which you can continue by bus or car.
The event takes place in May, in the village's historic center.
