The new comedy by the Mangiatori di Nuvole theatre company, performed in Valgrana
Set against the charming backdrop of Piazza Marconi in the town of Valgrana (Province of Cuneo, Piedmont), "Avete detto ricchi?" is the latest comedy from the amateur theatre troupe Mangiatori di Nuvole. This free-admission performance marks the opening of a short tour visiting several villages in the Grana Valley and the Cuneo area, highlighting the company's deep connection to its local roots.
The story follows Carlo and Serena, a couple struggling as their adult children drift away from family life. To bring them back, they hatch a risky plan: pretending they have inherited a fortune from a distant relative, the mysterious Aunt Incatenata. Meanwhile, the space left by their children is filled by Grandma Rita, who left her partner after he gambled away his pension at Bingo, and sister-in-law Isolde, a germaphobe terrified of everything. Between eccentric characters, cascading misunderstandings, and absurd situations, the fake wealth triggers a whirlwind of plot twists and laughter.
The Mangiatori di Nuvole are an amateur theatre group rooted in the Cuneo valleys, known for producing a new original show every year. The play is written and directed by Giulia Brenna and Omar Ramero and features a large cast: Mattia Audisio, Ginevra Barbero, Lorenzo Beccaria, Cristiana Brignone, Natasha Caula, Jada Giordano, Paola Isaia, Giulia Picco, Matilda Qafaloku, Alessandro Rosso, and Elisa Salomone.
Following its debut in Valgrana, the comedy continues its run in neighbouring towns, with performances in Cervasca (Amphitheatre), Caraglio (Civic Theatre), and Busca (Civic Theatre). All shows are free to attend and take place in the evening.
This initiative is part of the vibrant summer event season in the Grana Valley, where the squares of small towns transform into open-air theatres. It is a high-quality amateur theatre experience, accessible to all and deeply connected to the cultural identity of the Piedmont region.
