Forty Years of Celebration in Pedescala
The Astego Fry and Beer Festival takes place in Pedescala, a hamlet of the municipality of Valdastico, in the upper Astico valley in the province of Vicenza. It is one of the most deeply rooted popular festivals in the Alto Astico: the 2025 edition marked the 44th edition for the beer festival and the 11th for the fry festival, a sign of a tradition that has been renewed for over forty years thanks to the volunteers of the Pro Loco of Pedescala.
Beer and Astego Fries
The combination that gives the festival its name tells its soul well. On one hand, the beer, the star of the stall with quality taps; on the other, the Astego fries, the small fish from the Astico stream fried and served as a local specialty, around which the dedicated festival was born over the years. To complete the menu, typical local dishes, bruschetta, and sandwiches.
The Valley Derby and the Gavetton Party
In addition to gastronomy, the festival is famous for its more fun and identity-focused events:
- the derby of our valley, a football match that pits the hamlets of Pedescala, San Piero, and Pedemonte against each other;
- the Gavetton party, the water fight that cools down the hot August evenings;
- games in the square and entertainment for children;
- live music evenings, with bands ranging from Italian music to folk-rock and 80s hits.
A Community Festival
Organized by the Pro Loco of Pedescala, the Beer Festival is much more than a local fair: it is the moment when the hamlet and the entire Astico valley come together, keeping alive the identity of a mountain territory on the border between Veneto and Trentino.
Beer Festival of Pedescala — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Astego Fry and Beer Festival renews in Pedescala, a hamlet of Valdastico, one of the longest-running popular festivals in the Alto Astico. The event is expected on the first weekend of August, following the 44 editions of the Beer Festival and the 11 of the fry festival reached in 2025.
The exact dates and the schedule of musical evenings, games, and the valley derby will be communicated by the Pro Loco of Pedescala on their social media channels closer to the event.
Programme Beer Festival of Pedescala 2026
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Pro Loco of Pedescala in the preceding weeks. Based on recent editions, the usual format includes:
- Friday — evening opening of the food stall with quality beer, bruschetta, and sandwiches, accompanied by live music;
- Saturday — afternoon dedicated to the valley football derby between the hamlets of Pedescala, San Piero, and Pedemonte, awards ceremony, and evening concert;
- Sunday — Astego fries festival, games in the square, Gavetton party, and folk-rock music to close.
