About Osservatorio Aperto

Osservatorio Aperto is the summer series of astronomical evenings organized by the Gruppo Astrofili di Schio APS at the Don Francesco Faccin Observatory, in Busa Novegno on Monte Novegno. On certain weekends between June and September, the observatory opens its doors to the public to observe stars, planets, and deep-sky objects through telescopes, guided by enthusiasts from the group. A free event for families and the curious, far from the city lights.

A window on the sky above Schio

On Monte Novegno, in the Busa Novegno area above Schio in the province of Vicenza, stands the Don Francesco Faccin Astronomical Observatory, managed by the Gruppo Astrofili di Schio APS. Far from the light pollution of the plains, it is a privileged place to gaze at the starry sky.

Observation evenings

With the Osservatorio Aperto initiative, the observatory opens to the public on certain summer weekends for evenings dedicated to observing stars and planets. Members of the group guide visitors in using the telescopes and talk about the celestial bodies visible in the night sky, in an experience suitable for all ages.

A outreach project

The initiative, promoted by the Gruppo Astrofili di Schio APS with the patronage of the Municipality of Schio, has a strong educational focus: to introduce the public to astronomy with simple language and appropriate tools. Admission to the evenings is free.
