The Christmas market in the Habsburg Secular Park of Levico Terme
In the heart of Valsugana, the Habsburg Christmas Market in Levico Terme is among the most beloved and scenic in Trentino. Every year, between late November and Epiphany, the monumental Habsburg Secular Park dresses up for the holidays: its ancient trees, brought from all over the world and planted in the imperial era, are wrapped in a mantle of lights that creates a fairy-tale setting, unique in Italy.
The reference to the Habsburg dynasty is no coincidence: Levico Terme was a renowned spa town of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and it is to that era that the park and its vocation as an elegant holiday destination date back. The market recaptures that spirit with costumed processions, Imperial Court performers, and a Central European atmosphere that sets it apart from other markets in the region.
Along the park's pathways, you will find over 50 wooden huts offering local crafts in wood, leather, glass, and fabric, Christmas decorations, nativity scenes, and gift ideas. There is no shortage of gastronomy, with the scents of spices and mulled wine: mountain honey, alpine cheeses, polenta, game, traditional sweets, and the famous parampampoli, the fiery liqueur of Valsugana.
The calendar is full of appointments designed especially for families and children: the Elf Village where you can meet Santa Claus, creative workshops, farm animals, carriage rides between the market and the historic center, and the artistic nativity scene. These are joined by concerts, Christmas choirs, a wood carving symposium with master carvers at work, historical costume pageants, and re-enactments of the Habsburg Court.
The market is held in the Habsburg Secular Park, in the center of Levico Terme, in the Autonomous Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Admission is free and the stalls are open every day from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Easily accessible from the A22 Brenner motorway and the Levico Terme train station, it is the ideal destination for a Christmas trip in the mountains of Trentino.
The Habsburg Christmas Market returns from November 21, 2026, to January 6, 2027, open every day from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with extended hours during the Immaculate Conception long weekend. The Habsburg Secular Park lights up among its more than 50 wooden huts.
