Special openings and tours of the historic gardens at the Castello di Rocca de' Baldi
Every year in early June, the Castello Museo di Rocca de' Baldi takes part in "Appuntamento in Giardino," the major national event dedicated to Italy's historic gardens and parks. The initiative, coordinated by the Association of Parks and Gardens of Italy (APGI), is twinned with the French "Rendez-vous aux jardins" festival and simultaneously involves dozens of sites across Italy and Europe. In Rocca de' Baldi, a small town in the Province of Cuneo, Piedmont, the event is a unique opportunity to discover green spaces that are usually closed to the public.
The castle, home to the "Augusto Doro" Ethnographic Museum and tied to the history of the Marchesi Morozzo della Rocca family, is the heart of the event. The program features a double appointment centered on the castle, with tours of two different historic gardens over the weekend:
Guided tours, led by local experts, allow visitors to combine the discovery of the castle's main floor with its gardens, exploring the relationship between man and nature that has shaped this corner of the Monregalese area. It is an experience designed for families, botany enthusiasts, and history lovers, set in an intimate and authentic context far from the major tourist crowds.
By joining "Appuntamento in Giardino," the Municipality of Rocca de' Baldi and the Castle Museum contribute to a national network that promotes the culture of the garden as a historical and environmental asset. For visitors, it is the perfect opportunity to combine a trip through the Cuneo countryside with the discovery of a castle-museum and its gardens, at a time of year when the blooms are at their peak.
On Saturday, June 6, the tour of the castle's first main floor was accompanied by the special opening of the garden of the Santa Maria del Castello complex (the Badia), featuring the elegant abbey palace, the loggia, and the historic boxwood park. On Sunday, June 7, the castle tour continued with the orchard maintained by the Comizio Agrario of Mondovì, which preserves over a hundred rare apple varieties and experiments with organic farming techniques. Guided tours at 2:45 PM and 4:30 PM.
