The Gargano zero-kilometre food festival in Ischitella
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Antichi Sapori is the food and wine festival that enlivens the squares of Ischitella every summer, a town on the Gargano promontory in the province of Foggia, Apulia. Widely regarded as one of the most anticipated food festivals in the Gargano, the event celebrates the region's traditional cuisine and the value of zero-kilometre products in an atmosphere of sharing and joy that involves both residents and visitors.
The heart of the festival lies in the food stalls set up in the historic centre, where it is possible to taste Ischitella specialities prepared according to ancient recipes passed down through generations. The philosophy of the event focuses on the conscious consumption of local products and the rediscovery of the authentic bond between food and the Gargano territory.
Among the village's culinary excellences, iconic products such as the Calzone di Ischitella and the Cavicione stand out—a typical rustic pastry made with spring onions, raisins, and anchovies, bearing witness to a farming and maritime culture that has been intertwined for centuries.
Tastings are accompanied by folk music and dancing that animate the squares until late at night, transforming the event into the ultimate expression of village conviviality. The festival typically takes place in several areas of the centre, including Piazza Vera D'Aragona, Piazza Cesare Battisti, and the scenic Villa Paradiso.
Antichi Sapori is organised by the Pro Loco Uria of Ischitella with the collaboration of local associations, the Universal Civil Service, the Le Radici cultural centre, and with the patronage of the Municipality of Ischitella, UNPLI, and Pro Loco Puglia. A collective effort that renews one of the most cherished gastronomic traditions of the Gargano every year.
Nestled on a hill overlooking the lakes of Lesina and Varano and the Adriatic Sea, Ischitella is an ideal stop for those visiting the Gargano National Park. The Antichi Sapori festival is the perfect opportunity to combine the discovery of the village, its historic centre, and its gastronomic excellences into a single summer evening.
The dates for the 2026 edition of Antichi Sapori in Ischitella have not yet been announced. Following the trend of previous years, the festival dedicated to traditional zero-kilometre Gargano cuisine is expected to return during the summer, featuring food stalls, folk music, and dancing in the historic centre. For the detailed programme, please refer to the official communications from the Pro Loco Uria and the Municipality of Ischitella.
Ischitella can be reached by car via the SS89 Garganica road; the nearest train stations are along the Ferrovie del Gargano line. The reference airports are Bari and Foggia (Gino Lisa).
Access to the festival squares is free; tastings at the food stalls are paid for on a consumption basis.
The event takes place in the evening during the summer: it is advisable to arrive early to find parking in the centre and experience the atmosphere from the moment the stalls open.
