Celebrating the buffalo supply chain in the heart of the Alto Casertano region
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Altocasertano Buffalo Festival is the food and wine celebration that every summer honors the territory's iconic product: the buffalo. Held in Baia e Latina, a small town in the Province of Caserta, Campania, the event takes place in a corner of the Alto Casertano region crossed by the Volturno River, where buffalo farming has been part of the landscape for generations. The festival showcases an entire supply chain made up of dairies, farms, and unmistakable flavors.
The undisputed star is the PDO Campania buffalo mozzarella, but the festival's menu goes much further. Food stalls offer a culinary journey featuring buffalo meat prepared in many traditional recipes, artisanal cured meats and cheeses, fresh ricotta, and other local specialties. It is the perfect opportunity to discover how versatile this product is, extending far beyond just mozzarella.
True to the tradition of local village festivals, the tastings are accompanied by evenings of live music, featuring local bands, folk concerts, and entertainment designed for families. The event area becomes a meeting place where great food frames the celebration, amidst stalls, roving performers, and the warm atmosphere of Campania's villages in summer.
Organized by the Pro Loco Amici del Volturno, the festival is also an invitation to explore Baia e Latina and the Alto Casertano, a hilly area still off the beaten path of mass tourism, rich in nature, rural history, and the culture of genuine food that makes Campania famous worldwide. Attending means supporting local producers and experiencing an authentically popular evening, far from the most crowded tourist circuits.
The Altocasertano Buffalo Festival returns, as per tradition, to enliven the summer of Baia e Latina with a celebration dedicated to the buffalo supply chain of the Alto Casertano region. At the moment, the dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been confirmed by the organizers: we recommend checking for updates with the Pro Loco Amici del Volturno before planning your visit.
Baia e Latina is located in the Alto Casertano area, in the Province of Caserta. By car, it can be reached from the Caianello exit (A1 motorway) heading inland, or from the Statale Telesina road in the direction of Alife. The most convenient train stations are Caserta or Vairano-Caianello, from where you can continue by car.
Village festivals like this one typically have free admission, with food and drinks available for purchase at the stalls at affordable prices. It is recommended to check dates and the program with the local Pro Loco before traveling.
