Busca's cinematic tribute to the great personalities of Italian film
The Alpi del Mare Film Award - City of Busca is one of the most cherished cultural highlights in the Municipality of Busca, in the province of Cuneo, in the heart of southwestern Piedmont. Born in 2017 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the historic Cine-teatro Lux, the award is promoted by the Cineclub Méliès with the support of the City of Busca and is presented annually to a leading figure in Italian cinema.
The event's format is now well-established: the presentation of the crystal plaque to the guest of honor is accompanied by a public discussion, moderated by film critic Giancarlo Zappoli, director of MyMovies, and the president of the Cineclub Méliès. The dialogue is followed by the screening of a film particularly significant to the honoree's career, often a work they directed. It is a precious opportunity for the local audience to meet the actors, directors, and screenwriters who have shaped the recent history of Italian cinema.
Over the years, the award has welcomed some of the most beloved names in Italian cinema to the Lux stage: Giuseppe Battiston (2017), Margherita Buy (2018), Claudio Bisio (2019), Silvio Orlando (2022), Pupi Avati (2023), Claudia Gerini (2024), and Neri Marcorè (2025).
More than just an award ceremony, the event has evolved into a celebration for the local community and film lovers from across the province of Cuneo, successfully bridging the local scene with nationally renowned guests.
For the 2026 edition, on Saturday, June 13 at 9:00 PM at the Cine-teatro Lux in Busca, the Alpi del Mare Film Award was presented to the Roman actor and director Edoardo Leo. The evening, hosted by critic Giancarlo Zappoli, included the presentation of the crystal plaque, a public talk, and the screening of Diciotto anni dopo, Leo's directorial debut.
The award ceremony was followed by a film series featuring three movies starring Edoardo Leo, scheduled on the following Mondays: Era ora (June 15), Per te (June 22), and 2 cuori e 2 capanne (June 29), with screenings at 9:00 PM.
Busca is located in the province of Cuneo, along the road leading from the provincial capital toward the Valle Maira. It is easily accessible by car from Cuneo (about 15 km) and Saluzzo. The Cine-teatro Lux is situated in the town center.
Admission to the awards evening requires a single ticket (talk plus main film screening); online sales are available via the cinema's website. Associated film series have separate, reduced-price tickets.
Reservations and information are available at www.cinemaluxbusca.it or directly at the box office during weekend screening hours.
