The summer series of the Samnite village

The Alfedena Summer Festival — also known as August of Alfedena — is the program of events that the Municipality of Alfedena offers every year in the heart of summer. Alfedena is a small village of just over a thousand inhabitants in the province of L'Aquila, in Abruzzo, nestled in the upper Sangro valley within the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park. Its Samnite origins, the Campo Consolino necropolis — one of the most important in Italy — and the Medieval Castle with its characteristic octagonal tower provide the backdrop for a month of initiatives spread throughout the village streets.

A program blending culture, music, and nature

The festival is structured around several themes that intertwine entertainment and the promotion of the territory. In recent editions, the program has featured:

• Live Music: tribute concerts dedicated to the great names of Italian and international music, such as the show on Vasco Rossi and the Pink Floyd tribute, as well as intimate concerts in natural settings like the Lago della Montagna Spaccata;
• Theater in the Square: open-air performances in Piazza Sannitica, featuring classics from the great repertoire;
• Cinema under the stars: evening open-air screenings in the historic center;
• Food and Wine: the Borgo Divino event, between Piazza Sannitica and the Medieval Castle, with wine tastings, street food, and entertainment;
• Wellness and Nature: yoga classes in the park and urban trekking such as "Passi, paesi e poesie";
• Culture and Books: literary presentations, historical conferences on the village's Samnite past, and photographic exhibitions dedicated to the Park;
• Family and Children: creative workshops, puppet shows, treasure hunts, and craft markets.

A village to experience in summer

Thanks to its location among the mountains of the Park, Alfedena offers a cool climate in summer and a landscape ideal for those seeking a holiday combining excursions and culture. The Alfedena Summer Festival transforms the squares and alleys of the village into a widespread stage, inviting residents and tourists to discover the identity of this corner of mountainous Abruzzo, where Samnite and Roman history coexists with popular traditions and community life.

Information on the 2026 edition

At the moment, the dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the Municipality of Alfedena. The festival is traditionally held in August: the detailed calendar is usually published by the municipal administration and on official social media channels in the weeks preceding the event.
