A month of music, culture, and gastronomy in Isernia
Settembre Isernino is the major cultural, musical, and gastronomic showcase that enlivens Isernia, the capital of the homonymous province in Molise, throughout September. Organised by the Municipality of Isernia together with Pro Loco Città di Isernia, Pro Loco Giovani, and Forum Giovani, it offers a packed and varied schedule that involves the entire city.
The showcase spans genres and audiences: concerts, the Fabrizio De André Award, the Tetracordo Festival dedicated to the Isernian mandolinist Giuseppe Pettine, dialect theatre, book presentations, philosophy evenings, astronomical observations, food and wine events in the historic centre, and sports tournaments. A mosaic of initiatives that showcases local talents and traditions.
The climax is the feast of the patron saints Cosma and Damiano, celebrated at the end of September with major concerts that attract a large audience. Settembre Isernino has become an identity-defining event for the community of Isernia, capable of uniting devotion, culture, and popular celebration in the heart of Molise.
The 2026 Settembre Isernino will, as every year, offer a full month of cultural, musical, and gastronomic events in the historic centre of Isernia. Following the pattern of previous editions, the programme will combine concerts, the De André Award, the Tetracordo Festival, dialect theatre, book presentations, philosophy and astronomy evenings, food and wine events, and the feast of patron saints Cosma and Damiano.
The detailed programme for the 2026 edition has not yet been published by the Municipality of Isernia. The usual structure of the showcase includes: Fabrizio De André Award (early September), Tetracordo Festival (around mid-September), concerts for the feast of patron saints Cosma and Damiano (end of September), dialect theatre, book presentations, philosophy evenings, astronomical observation, and sports tournaments. The calendar will be announced on the official channels of the Municipality and Pro Loco Città di Isernia.
Isernia is reachable by train (Rome-Campobasso/Isernia line) and by car via the SS17 and SS650 Trignina. Events take place in the historic centre and city squares.
Throughout September, culminating in the feast of the patron saints Cosma and Damiano (end of September).
Many events are free admission; some concerts or shows may require a ticket.
