About Alcamo City of Art Trophy

Every spring, the historic center of Alcamo, in the province of Trapani, transforms into a grand race circuit for the Alcamo City of Art Running Trophy. Organized by ASD L.I.P.A. Atletica Alcamo, the event draws hundreds of athletes from across Sicily to tackle a 2.5 km city loop, repeated three times. Winding through the streets and squares of the town, it is a celebration of sport that blends competition, inclusivity, and the unique atmosphere of a Sicilian city of art.

A race in the heart of Alcamo

The Alcamo City of Art Running Trophy is the premier spring road racing event held in the historic center of Alcamo, a significant town in the province of Trapani, Sicily. Organized by ASD L.I.P.A. Atletica Alcamo, the race has become a classic of the Sicilian running scene, attracting hundreds of runners from across the island every year, from young talents to master athletes.

The course and races

The track for the Absolute and Master categories winds entirely through the charming historic center: a circuit of approximately 2.5 km to be repeated three times, for a total of 7.5 km, identical for both men and women. The promotional and youth sector races take place along Corso VI Aprile, with distances varying by category. The meeting point, finish line, and award ceremonies are located in Piazza Ciullo, Alcamo's main town square.

An official stage of regional circuits

The Trophy is not an isolated event: it is an official stage of the Trapani Provincial Grand Prix and the BioRace circuit, as well as a provincial road race for promotional categories. This ensures a large and qualified field of participants, with the main Sicilian running clubs competing for top positions and the prize for the largest team.

Sport, inclusion, and community spirit

Beyond the competitive aspect, the event is distinguished by its strong commitment to inclusivity: every year, athletes of all ages and abilities run side by side, including people with disabilities and runners over ninety, in a climate of solidarity and fun. The race traverses the streets and squares of Alcamo's historic center, offering participants the chance to experience sport while immersed in the city's architectural heritage. A commemorative medal is provided for all finishers.

Alcamo, city of art

Nestled between the Gulf of Castellammare and Mount Bonifato, Alcamo is one of the most historically rich towns in the province of Trapani, featuring Baroque churches, the Castle of the Counts of Modica, and a vibrant historic center. Running the Trophy is also a way to discover this setting, from which the event takes its name, "City of Art".

Alcamo City of Art Trophy — edition 2026
