A stroll through ancient olive groves in the Città dell'Olio of Buseto Palizzolo
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Walk Among the Olive Trees is an annual autumn event that draws residents and walkers to Buseto Palizzolo, a small town in the province of Trapani, Sicily, who are eager to rediscover the local olive-growing landscape. The event is part of a major national initiative promoted by the National Association of Oil Cities, which involves dozens of Italian municipalities each year in a widespread day dedicated to the culture of extra virgin olive oil and the appreciation of the countryside.
The meeting point is at the former Bombolone oil mill on Via Antonino Manzo, where an easy, accessible route of approximately 2.5 kilometers begins, lasting about an hour. The walk winds through ancient olive groves and rural landscapes that tell the story of the long farming tradition of this corner of the Trapani region, nestled between Erice and Segesta. The flat and accessible path allows families and people with limited mobility to fully enjoy a day in the open air.
Buseto Palizzolo is part of the Città dell'Olio network and lies within the production area of the Valli Trapanesi PDO extra virgin olive oil, obtained mainly from the Cerasuola and Nocellara del Belice varieties, as well as the Sicily PGI oil territory. The walk is a perfect opportunity to get to know a product that defines the local identity, amidst historic farmhouses and rural districts, during a period that coincides with the start of the olive harvest.
In recent years, the Buseto edition has linked the walk to a social theme, emphasizing values such as dialogue, respect, and solidarity. Organized by the Municipality of Buseto Palizzolo together with local associations, the event combines light exercise, hiking, exploration of the territory, and moments of collective reflection, cementing its status as a beloved community tradition.
The 2026 edition of the Walk Among the Olive Trees in Buseto Palizzolo has not yet been officially scheduled at the time of writing. Based on previous editions, the event typically takes place in October, on the occasion of the National Day of the Città dell'Olio, with a meeting point at the former Bombolone oil mill and a route of about 2.5 km through the olive groves of the Trapani area. We invite you to check the dates, times, and program with the Municipality of Buseto Palizzolo or the Città dell'Olio portal as soon as they are announced.
Buseto Palizzolo is located about 18 km from Trapani. By car, it can be reached via the A29 motorway (exit towards Trapani/Erice) and the provincial roads of the Trapani area. The nearest airports are Trapani-Birgi and Palermo-Punta Raisi.
The gathering takes place at the former oil mill in Contrada Bombolone, Via Antonino Manzo. We recommend comfortable light trekking shoes, clothing suitable for the autumn season, water, and a hat.
The route is accessible and family-friendly. It is advisable to check the date, times, and participation details with the Municipality of Buseto Palizzolo or on the Città dell'Olio portal before setting out.
