The road slalom race between Altofonte and Piana degli Albanesi
In the heart of the Palermo hinterland, the Altofonte-Rebuttone Car Slalom has quickly become a staple of the Sicilian motorsport calendar. The event takes place in the municipality of Altofonte, in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, along the provincial roads no. 5 and 5 Bis that climb toward the Rebuttone junction, bordering the territory of Piana degli Albanesi.
The race track measures 3.8 km and is designed with seventeen slowing-down sections marked by cones, following the classic road slalom format. Drivers tackle the course in three timed heats: the winner is the one with the lowest total time, expressed in "points-seconds." It is a spectacular and technical format where precision driving is just as important as vehicle power.
Each edition gathers around fifty drivers, mostly from Sicily, divided into the numerous classes and groups provided by ACI Sport regulations: single-seaters, prototypes, kart crosses, silhouette cars, Racing Start, Special group, and the always popular vintage car category. Over the years, renowned island slalom drivers have triumphed on the Altofonte track, behind the wheels of vehicles ranging from agile modified Fiat 126s to fast single-seaters and the latest generation prototypes.
The race is organized by A.S.D. Scuderia Armanno Corse, with the support of Team Altofonte Corse. The event is sponsored by the Sicilian Region, the Metropolitan City of Palermo, and the municipalities of Altofonte and Piana degli Albanesi, confirming its strong local roots. The Slalom is included in the national calendar as a round of the Trofeo d'Italia Sud Slalom ACI Sport and is valid for the regional Sicilian Championship.
The event is about more than just sport: the day of technical inspections, on the eve of the race, concludes with an evening party featuring live music in the center of Altofonte, involving both enthusiasts and the entire community. The Altofonte-Rebuttone Slalom is thus a weekend of engines, adrenaline, and local festivities, attracting fans from all over Western Sicily every year.
The tenth-anniversary edition of the Altofonte-Rebuttone Slalom is confirmed for Sunday, September 13, 2026, marking the conclusion of the Sicilian sporting summer. The race is featured in the 2026 national slalom calendar and is included among the qualifying rounds for the Trofeo d'Italia Sud and the Sicilian Regional Championship.
Organization is once again entrusted to A.S.D. Scuderia Armanno Corse, on the classic 3.8 km course along provincial roads no. 5 and 5 Bis towards the Rebuttone junction.
The full entry list and the detailed program for the race weekend will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
The detailed program (technical inspections, reconnaissance, and timed heats) and the entry list for the 10th edition will be published by the organizers closer to the race date. The event traditionally follows a two-day schedule: technical inspections on the afternoon of the eve, mandatory reconnaissance, and three timed heats on race day.
The race takes place along the provincial roads no. 5 and 5 Bis between Altofonte (PA) and the Rebuttone junction, towards Piana degli Albanesi.
Altofonte is about 15 km from Palermo. By car, it can be reached via the SS624 Palermo-Sciacca, taking the Altofonte exit. The nearest train station is in Palermo; from there, you can continue by car or local bus connections to Altofonte.
Public access to the race areas is free. During the heats, the affected roads are closed to traffic for safety reasons.
Please position yourself only in the designated areas indicated by the organizers and staff. The summer season requires sun protection, water, and comfortable footwear.
