Five days of nature, flavor, and tradition in the Valle dei Laghi
The Agricultural and Food Biodiversity Festival celebrates the natural, cultural, and social richness of the Valle dei Laghi, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. Promoted by the Valle dei Laghi Biodistrict in collaboration with the Autonomous Province of Trento, the event spans several days and involves various locations, with its administrative base in the municipality of Vallelaghi and events spread across Calavino, Cavedine, Sarche, Santa Massenza, Pergolese, and neighboring towns.
The festival aims to promote biodiversity as a heritage to be preserved and passed on. The program weaves together science, taste, and farming culture through meetings with experts, school workshops, courses for restaurateurs and farmers, guided tastings, and outdoor experiences. Each edition revolves around themes such as mountain food, sustainable viticulture, the fight against food waste, and the protection of native varieties.
A major star of the festival is Nosiola, the ancient native grape variety of the Valle dei Laghi, which forms the basis of the famous Vino Santo, a Slow Food Presidium. Its vineyards, small villages, and historic wineries become the setting for tastings, trekking, and round tables that tell the story of the deep bond between the landscape, agriculture, and the local community.
Aimed at both locals and tourists, the festival is an opportunity to discover the Valle dei Laghi in a slow and conscious way, amidst its lakes, vineyards, and local products. The event confirms the commitment of the municipality of Vallelaghi and the entire Biodistrict to a model of rural development that respects the environment and the traditions of Trentino.
From June 3 to 7, 2026, the Valle dei Laghi hosted a new edition of the Agricultural and Food Biodiversity Festival, promoted by the Valle dei Laghi Biodistrict with the Autonomous Province of Trento. The program spanned numerous locations across the territory, from wineries and farms to hiking trails, with both free and paid events.
In 2026, the festival once again confirmed the central role of Nosiola and the farming culture of the Valle dei Laghi, offering residents and visitors a slow journey through the flavors and landscapes of Trentino.
The Valle dei Laghi can be reached from Trento in about 20-30 minutes by car along the SS45bis road towards Lake Garda; the reference train station is in Trento, which is then connected by suburban buses.
Many events are free (often requiring reservation), while workshops, courses, and trekking activities require a contribution (typically between 15 and 20 euros, with reduced rates for members). For the full program, times, and bookings, please contact the Valle dei Laghi Biodistrict.
