The most iconic mountain bike marathon in the Alpe Cimbra, winding through woods, pastures, and Austro-Hungarian forts.
The 100 Km dei Forti is one of Italy's best-known mountain bike marathons and a historic fixture on the sports calendar of the Alpe Cimbra, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. The event takes place across the municipalities of Folgaria, Lavarone, and Luserna, in the province of Trento, and takes its name from the ancient Austro-Hungarian fortifications that dot the plateau, serving as silent witnesses to the First World War.
The race is organized by the Sci Club Millegrobbe Lavarone A.S.D., with the support of over three hundred volunteers and numerous sponsors. It is part of the Trentino MTB circuit and has become a benchmark for mountain biking enthusiasts over the years, attracting both top-tier professionals and thousands of amateurs who test themselves on the plateau's trails every year.
The 100 Km dei Forti format spans an entire weekend. Saturday is dedicated to the Nosellari Bike, a race that starts from the hamlet of the same name in Folgaria and crosses picturesque spots such as Lake Lavarone and the Slaghenaufi War Cemetery. Sunday is the main event, starting from Parco Palù in Lavarone, featuring two primary tracks: the long Marathon, reserved for the most highly trained riders, and the Classic, which is more accessible yet still challenging.
What makes the 100 Km dei Forti special is the blend of athletic challenge and territory. The trails wind through coniferous forests, mountain huts, and high-altitude pastures, brushing past the Austro-Hungarian forts that define the entire area. Cycling alongside these imposing fortifications means traversing a piece of European history in a Dolomite setting that combines physical exertion with breathtaking scenery. For Folgaria and the entire Alpe Cimbra, the event is also a key tourism driver, marking the start of the summer cycling season.
The 2026 edition marked a true anniversary for Trentino mountain biking: the 30th edition of the 100 Km dei Forti, the twentieth anniversary of the Nosellari Bike, and the fortieth anniversary of the Sci Club Millegrobbe Lavarone. The races were held on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, on the plateaus of the Alpe Cimbra.
On Saturday, June 6, the Nosellari Bike opened the weekend with its 36.2 km and over 1,000 meters of elevation gain, starting from Nosellari and finishing in Lavarone Gionghi, between Lake Lavarone and the Slaghenaufi War Cemetery. On Sunday, June 7, starting from Parco Palù in Lavarone, the two main tracks were held: the Marathon, covering approximately 94 km with over 2,600 meters of elevation gain, and the Classic, measuring 52.4 km. The event also received television coverage on Rai Sport.
Thirtieth edition of the event, with celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the Nosellari Bike and the 40th anniversary of the Sci Club Millegrobbe Lavarone. Some of the biggest names in Italian mountain bike marathons were at the starting line. Television coverage on Rai Sport.
