About Rovereto Road Race

The Rovereto International Road Race is one of the longest-running and most prestigious road races in Trentino. Every autumn, Rovereto's historic centre is transformed into a city circuit where world-class athletes compete in an evening race that blends sport, tradition, and community spirit. Organised by U.S. Quercia, the event kicks off with youth and amateur races under the Centro Sportivo Italiano banner before the main event takes place at dusk.

A running tradition spanning over seventy years

The Rovereto International Road Race is among the oldest and most iconic road races in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Established in the immediate post-war period, the race has grown into a staple of the Italian autumn sporting calendar, attracting international athletes alongside hundreds of amateur runners and young talents. The event takes place in the heart of the Municipality of Rovereto, a Vallagarina town renowned for its cultural heritage and the 'Campana dei Caduti' (Bell of the Fallen), offering a spectacular competitive display through the historic streets every year.

The city circuit

The race is held on a city circuit starting and finishing in Piazza Rosmini. The loop, measuring approximately 1,075 metres, winds through the centre, passing Corso Rosmini, Via Fontana, Via Dante, Piazza Nazario Sauro, Via Carducci, Via Roma, Piazza Battisti, and Via Orefici, before returning to the start. The men's international race consists of nine laps, covering a total distance of approximately 9.675 kilometres run in the evening under the city lights.

A day of sport for everyone

The event is not just about the elite race: the day begins in the afternoon with promotional trials by the Centro Sportivo Italiano, involving youth categories—Esordienti, Cuccioli, Ragazzi, Cadetti, Allievi—as well as juniors, seniors, amateurs, and masters. Distances range from 600 metres for the youngest runners to the full length of the main race, creating a festive atmosphere that engages the Rovereto community throughout the afternoon.

International calibre

The main race is officially recognised by FIDAL, the Italian Athletics Federation, and over the years has seen high-level African and European runners compete on the fast city loop. The 2025 edition was won by the Kenyan-Burundian athlete Jean Marie Vianney Niyomukiza, who made his move on the final lap in front of a large and passionate crowd, confirming the event's competitive prestige.

Rovereto and the Vallagarina

Running the race is also an opportunity to discover Rovereto, an elegant town in southern Trentino rich in museums, historic palaces, and Central European charm. Nestled in the mountains of the Vallagarina, the race combines high-level competition with the allure of a lively and welcoming historic centre, offering spectators an evening of sport in a truly evocative setting.

Rovereto Road Race — edition 2026

The 78th edition of the Rovereto International Road Race is scheduled in the historic centre of the Trentino town. The meeting point is in Piazza Rosmini from the early afternoon, with youth and amateur trials by the Centro Sportivo Italiano starting at 2:15 PM and the men's international race kicking off at 5:30 PM on the 1,075-metre city circuit, to be repeated nine times for a total of 9.675 kilometres.

For its 78th edition, the Rovereto International Road Race confirms its tried-and-tested formula: a day entirely dedicated to road running in the heart of the Municipality of Rovereto. The meeting point for registration confirmation and bib collection is set in Piazza Rosmini from the early afternoon.

The programme begins at 2:15 PM with the promotional trials of the Centro Sportivo Italiano, open to youth and amateur categories, from Esordienti to masters. At 5:30 PM, the men's international race starts, running nine laps of the city loop through Corso Rosmini, Via Dante, Via Roma, and Piazza Battisti, for a total distance of 9.675 kilometres.

The event, organised by U.S. Quercia with the approval of FIDAL, represents one of the most anticipated autumn appointments in Trentino's running calendar.
