A celebration of wild boar and Tuscan cuisine in Rignano sull'Arno
The Wild Boar Festival is one of the most deeply rooted events in the calendar of Rignano sull'Arno, a town in the province of Florence overlooking the upper Valdarno. For thirty years, the event has celebrated game meat and traditional Tuscan cuisine, bringing together the local community and visitors from across Tuscany around long tables at the food stands.
The 2026 edition marked a significant milestone, the 30th anniversary, confirming the festival as one of the longest-running and most beloved local celebrations in the area. The event is organized by the G.S. Cacciatori Cinghiale in collaboration with the ARCI Clubs of Osteria and Cellai, hamlets of Rignano sull'Arno, in a spirit of volunteerism and strong local identity.
The heart of the festival is, naturally, the wild boar, featured in all its traditional Tuscan variations. Dishes you can sample include:
All accompanied by local Valdarno wines, in a menu that perfectly represents the hearty, rustic cuisine of the Florentine countryside.
The festival traditionally takes place in May, spanning two long weekends at the Via Roma sports complex. The food stands are open every evening for dinner, while lunch service is available on Saturdays and Sundays. The first weekend coincides with the Ancient Livestock Fair of the Valdarno, a historic fair that enhances the town's atmosphere and attracts even more visitors.
Beyond the excellent food, the Wild Boar Festival maintains a strong social dimension. During the event, a charity lunch is organizedโa moment of sharing that testifies to the welcoming spirit of the ARCI clubs and the volunteers of Rignano sull'Arno. It is an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Tuscany, far from the most crowded tourist circuits but rich in tradition, good food, and human warmth.
