The autumn edition of the Croce Azzurra festival in Le Sieci, featuring fried meat, fish, and vegetables.
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Mixed Fried Food Festival is one of the most beloved gastronomic events in the Val di Sieci, located in the municipality of Pontassieve, in the province of Florence and the heart of Tuscany. In addition to its popular spring edition, the event features a second autumn installment, spread over two weekends between late September and early October, attracting residents and visitors from across the Florence area every year.
The festival's signature dish is the Italian-style mixed fry, prepared according to traditional recipes: meat, fish, and vegetables dipped in batter and fried to order, served in generous portions. The menu is rounded out by homemade pasta dishes and typical Tuscan cuisine, all served in a simple, family-friendly atmosphere. The cooking is handled by local volunteers, giving the food an authentic, non-commercial flavor.
The festival is organized by the S.M.S. Croce Azzurra, the public assistance organization serving the Val di Sieci area. The entire event is for charity: dining proceeds are used to support the association's volunteer activities and emergency services. Attending the festival means combining the pleasure of good food with support for an essential pillar of the Pontassieve community.
The stands are set up in the Croce Azzurra facilities in Piazza Sergio Chiari, in Le Sieci. On Saturdays, the kitchen is open for dinner only, while on Sundays, everyone gathers for lunch: two different rhythms to experience the festival as a moment of community connection. The autumn edition reaffirms the vitality of a culinary tradition that, season after season, continues to bring generations of enthusiasts together over fried delicacies.
For autumn 2026, the Mixed Fried Food Festival is expected to return to Le Sieci, a village in Pontassieve, over two weekends between late September and early October. The program follows the established formula: kitchen open Saturday for dinner and Sunday for lunch, with Tuscan fried meat, fish, and vegetables prepared by the Croce Azzurra volunteers.
Note: The indicated dates (September 27-28 and October 4-5) are based on aggregator calendars and not yet official communications from the organizers; it is recommended to verify the exact days and times by contacting Croce Azzurra before traveling.
