A Village Festival Dedicated to Wild Boar

In the heart of the Tuscan-Romagnol Apennines, the Municipality of Modigliana, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, hosts the annual Wild Boar Festival, one of the most cherished gastronomic events by the local community. The event takes place in Piazzale Enzo Ferrari, in the town center, and for a few days transforms the square into a large outdoor convivial gathering place, animated by the aromas of Romagnol cuisine and live music.

Traditional Dishes

The absolute star is wild boar, cooked according to traditional Apennine recipes. The food stand typically offers:

• Tagliatelle, tortelli, and polenta with wild boar ragù;
• Wild boar stew and strips;
• Mixed grill with pork and wild boar;
• Baked wild boar, usually reserved for Sunday lunch;
• Homemade desserts and local wines to accompany the meal.

The dishes are prepared and served by volunteers from Pro Loco Modigliana, which manages the entire organization of the festival, as is customary for many village festivals in Romagna.

Music and Atmosphere

In addition to good food, the Wild Boar Festival offers live music and dancing every evening, with traditional Romagnol orchestras and bands animating the square until late. It's an opportunity to experience the authentic convivial spirit of the village, where tourists and residents gather around tables and the dance floor.
