Wiesenfest of the Volunteer Fire Brigade of Dorf Tirol

A village festival in the South Tyrolean mountains

The Wiesenfest der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr Dorf Tirol is the summer event where the Volunteer Fire Brigade of Tirolo (Freiwillige Feuerwehr Dorf Tirol) opens the doors of their Festplatz to the entire village. We are in Tirolo (Dorf Tirol), the charming town perched above Merano, in the Province of Bolzano, in the heart of Trentino-South Tyrol. Here, amidst the vineyards and apple orchards of the Merano basin and with views stretching toward Castel Tirolo, one of the community's most cherished folk festivals comes to life.

Music, gastronomy, and open-air cheer

The Wiesenfest follows the genuine formula of South Tyrolean festivals: eating, drinking, and dancing under the summer sky. The evening is enlivened by live music, while stalls offer culinary specialties of the region, accompanied by local wines and beers. There is no shortage of dancing and entertainment in a convivial atmosphere that brings together families, young people, and passing visitors.

In service to the community

Participating in the festival also means recognizing and thanking these volunteers for their daily commitment.

When it takes place

The festival is traditionally held in the evening during the month of August on the Festplatz in Tirolo. As it is an outdoor event, it will not take place in case of bad weather. A perfect opportunity to experience the hospitality and folk traditions of the Burgraviato, just a short distance from Merano.
