About Salorno Alpini Wiesenfest

Every summer, the Salorno – Buchholz (Pochi) Alpini Group hosts its Wiesenfest, a traditional country festival held in the Chiusa di Salorno area along Via Trento. Enjoy two days of outdoor conviviality featuring Alpine cuisine, fine wines from the Wine Road, music, and community spirit, all brought to life by the town's many local associations. A staple of the summer calendar in the Bassa Atesina, in the province of Bolzano, this event brings together both the Italian and German-speaking communities of Salorno.

The Salorno Alpini Country Festival

The Wiesenfest Alpini Salurn – Buchholz, known in Italian as the Salorno Alpini Country Festival, is the summer event organized by the Salorno – Buchholz (Pochi) Alpini Group. It takes place in the Chiusa di Salorno festival grounds (Wiesenfestplatz Salurner Klause), located along Via Trento, just a stone's throw from the historic Chiusa pass that marks the southern border of South Tyrol.

The festival is a classic village Wiesenfest, a format beloved throughout South Tyrol: a large marquee and a well-equipped green space where, for an entire weekend, people gather to eat, drink, and socialize in the open air. The Alpini, supported by their network of volunteers, manage the catering and hospitality, while various local associations collaborate on the organization, making the festival a true community effort.

Salorno, the southern gateway to South Tyrol

We are in Salorno sulla strada del vino / Salurn an der Weinstraße, the southernmost municipality in the province of Bolzano and the entire Trentino-Alto Adige region. Nestled at the entrance to the Chiusa gorge, where the Adige Valley narrows between rocky cliffs, Salorno is a bilingual town where Italian and German cultures coexist. The hamlet of Pochi (Buchholz), perched on a scenic terrace at about 565 meters above sea level in the Monte Corno Nature Park, is renowned for its viticulture along the famous South Tyrolean Wine Road.

Atmosphere and flavors

The Wiesenfest thrives on a simple and genuine atmosphere. At the long festival tables, you will find traditional Alpine and South Tyrolean dishes, accompanied by local wines and draft beer. Live music sets the tone for the evenings, while during the day, the festival welcomes families with a relaxed and friendly vibe.

  • Country-style cuisine prepared by the Alpini Group volunteers
  • Wines from the Wine Road and South Tyrolean gastronomic specialties
  • Music and entertainment during the festival evenings
  • Community spirit with the participation of Salorno's associations

A Bassa Atesina highlight

As part of the rich summer calendar of country festivals in the Bassa Atesina, the Salorno Alpini Wiesenfest offers an authentic opportunity to discover the hospitality of this corner of South Tyrol. Far from the most crowded tourist routes, it is a place where Alpine roots and border culture meet around a well-laid table.
