The great celebration of Teroldego Rotaliano in the heart of Mezzocorona
Settembre Rotaliano is the most iconic event in Mezzocorona, a town in the Piana Rotaliana in the province of Trento, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. It began in 1970, when a group of forward-thinking Pro Loco volunteers decided to dedicate a festival to the area's signature wine, Teroldego Rotaliano, recognized as the first varietal DOC in Trentino. The first edition was held at the former Cantina Sociale, and year after year, the event has grown to become one of the most anticipated food and wine gatherings of the Trentino autumn.
The hallmark of Settembre Rotaliano is its unique format: for three days, the courtyards, parks, and historic palazzos of Mezzocorona open their doors and transform into a network of pop-up taverns. Each courtyard is managed by a different local volunteer association, offering traditional Trentino dishes. As you stroll from one doorway to the next, you will discover charming corners of the historic center, while glasses are filled with Teroldego Rotaliano DOC in its various expressions, from fresh, fruity reds to more structured reserves.
The festival is a journey through the flavors of the Trentino mountains. Among the dishes served in the courtyards, you will find local specialties such as:
Everything is strictly accompanied by Teroldego Rotaliano, the red wine with an intense ruby color and garnet reflections that has made this corner of Trentino famous.
Settembre Rotaliano is not just about food and wine. In the afternoon, the town comes alive with activities for children (face painting, inflatables, workshops, games), while in the evening, after dinner, there is space for live music and DJ sets that energize the squares and courtyards until late at night. It is a deeply community-driven festival, made possible every year by hundreds of volunteers from local associations, and it represents the moment when the entire town of Mezzocorona gathers to celebrate its agricultural and winemaking roots.
Organized by Pro Loco Mezzocorona with the support of the local area, Settembre Rotaliano is an ideal opportunity to discover the Piana Rotaliana, a land of great wines nestled among the Trentino mountains. An event with free admission that combines tradition, taste, and conviviality.
Settembre Rotaliano 2026 is scheduled in Mezzocorona from September 4th to 6th, 2026. Once again this year, the town's historic center will open its courtyards and palazzos, transforming them into a network of taverns managed by volunteer associations, with traditional Trentino dishes paired with Teroldego Rotaliano DOC. The program also includes live evening music and afternoon activities for families. The complete program, including the list of open courtyards and musical events, will be published by Pro Loco Mezzocorona closer to the event. Free admission.
Mezzocorona is located in the Piana Rotaliana, about 20 km north of Trento. By car, it can be reached via the A22 Brennero motorway, taking the San Michele all'Adige-Mezzocorona exit. By train, the Mezzocorona station is served by the Brennero line and the Trento-Malè railway.
Admission to the event is free. Tastings and dishes can be purchased at the individual courtyards managed by the associations.
