The Bude youth center's open-air festival at the Tiers ice rink
The Who Let The Dogs Out Open Air Festival is the most anticipated summer event for the youth of Tiers, a small municipality in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, in Trentino-Alto Adige, set at the foot of the Catinaccio massif within the Alpe di Siusi holiday area. For one full day, the Eisplatz Kantun ice rink sheds its winter skin to become a vibrant open-air stage, hosting concerts, DJ sets, tournaments, and food stalls under the Dolomite sky.
The festival is conceived and organized by the Jugendverein Bude, a historic autonomous and self-managed youth center in Tiers, run entirely by a committee of local young people without external interference: a rare example in South Tyrol of a completely independent youth recreational space. The Broomballclub Tiers, which manages the local ice rink and provides the venue, collaborates on the organization. "Who Let The Dogs Out" is much more than just a concert; it is the celebration through which the youth community of Tiers showcases its vitality and autonomy.
The day kicks off in the morning with the opening of the stalls and background music setting the mood for the central hours. In the afternoon, the Bude Cup begins—a fun-filled tournament where teams of two compete in a series of games and challenges, with prizes for all ages. As evening falls, the stage is taken over by live concerts: over the years, the lineup has featured local bands and cover bands, ranging from punk rock and classic rock to hard rock, followed by DJs who keep the crowd dancing until late at night.
Throughout the event, there is no shortage of food and refreshing drinks, with stalls open from morning until late at night. The atmosphere remains that of an authentic and informal village festival, capable of attracting not only the residents of Tiers but also young people from neighboring municipalities and tourists vacationing in the Alpe di Siusi area. The festival's ironic name, taken from the famous song, has become a small brand identity for the town's youth life.
The 2026 edition of the Who Let The Dogs Out Open Air Festival will take place on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Eisplatz Kantun in Tiers, in the Province of Bolzano, opening in the morning and closing around 1:00 AM. The formula remains the tried-and-tested one of the Jugendverein Bude: background music during the central hours, the Bude Cup tournament in the afternoon, live concerts in the evening, and DJ sets until late at night, with food and drink stalls available throughout the event. The full lineup with bands and guests will be announced by the organizers closer to the date.
The festival takes place at the Eisplatz Kantun, the ice rink in Tiers (ZIP 39050), in the Province of Bolzano. By bus, you can reach the village via lines 185 and 176 (Tiers-Laurin stop), from which it is a 15-minute walk. By car, parking is available near the fountain (Brunnenplatz) and the town hall (Gemeinde).
