The Musikfest in Eggen is the summer festival organized by the Musikkapelle Eggen, the historic brass band of the small village of Ega/Eggen, a hamlet in the municipality of Nova Ponente/Deutschnofen in the Val d'Ega (Eggental), in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). For an entire weekend, the village square transforms into the community's beating heart, offering the quintessential South Tyrolean brass band festival atmosphere, complete with Blasmusik, local gastronomy, and open-air conviviality.

A Deeply Rooted Musical Tradition

The Musikkapelle Eggen is an association deeply tied to the village's identity. Founded in the second half of the 19th century, it brings together about forty musicians in traditional costume (Tracht) and performs a repertoire ranging from classic marches to modern medleys, and from traditional Tyrolean pieces to light music arranged for brass band. The Musikfest is the most important event of the year for the group, serving as a vital fundraising opportunity and a chance to connect with residents from neighboring Val d'Ega villages and the many tourists vacationing in the Dolomites.

Two Days of Festivities in the Square

The program follows the tried-and-tested formula of South Tyrolean band festivals. On Saturday evening, the festivities kick off with musical entertainment, food and drink service, and live concerts that keep the square buzzing until late. On Sunday, the day begins early with the traditional Frühschoppen—a lively musical aperitif—followed by performances by the local band and guest groups, family-friendly activities, and classic local cuisine.
