Witches' Nights at the foot of the Sciliar

The Hexennächte in Seis—or Witches' Nights in Siusi—are a summer highlight that brings the center of Siusi allo Sciliar (German: Seis am Schlern) to life. As the main tourist village in the Municipality of Castelrotto/Kastelruth, located in the province of Bolzano, it sits in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. On summer evenings, the village streets and squares transform into a large open-air stage where music, folklore, and magic blend into a festive, family-oriented atmosphere.

A magical atmosphere for all ages

As the name suggests, the theme of the event is witches, figures who populate the woods and legends of the Dolomites in Alpine tradition. During these evenings, the center of Siusi fills with live music, Schuhplattler folk groups—the characteristic Tyrolean dance where performers rhythmically slap their hands against their leather breeches and shoes—and plenty of activities designed for children.

Siusi allo Sciliar is one of the most renowned destinations in South Tyrol, serving as the gateway to the Alpe di Siusi, the largest high-altitude alpine meadow in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Nestled at the foot of the unmistakable Sciliar (Schlern) massif, the village perfectly blends Ladin and Tyrolean traditions with a vibrant tourist spirit. The Witches' Nights are part of the Municipality of Castelrotto's rich summer calendar, designed to enliven the villages and offer residents and guests evenings filled with local folklore.

A free, family-friendly event

The event is free to attend and generally takes place in the evening, starting at 8:30 PM. It is organized by the Siusi allo Sciliar Tourist Association, which also manages the village's other summer appointments. The informal atmosphere, music, and children's entertainment make it an ideal way to experience an authentic evening at the foot of the Dolomites.
