About White Night of Sport

The White Night of Sport turns the historic center of Pontedera, in the province of Pisa, into a massive open-air arena. From the afternoon until late at night, eleven locations host demonstrations of basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, boxing, rugby, karate, skating, and motor sports, while squares and avenues come alive with concerts, DJ sets, and performances. A free event for all ages that brings together local sports clubs, local businesses, and great live music.

A night of widespread sport in the heart of Pontedera

The White Night of Sport is one of the most anticipated summer events in the Municipality of Pontedera, located in the province of Pisa, in the heart of Tuscany and the Valdera region. For an entire evening, the historic city center transforms into a huge open-air arena: from the early afternoon, the squares, streets, and avenues are taken over by local sports associations, which bring the city to life with demonstrations, exhibitions, and open trials for everyone.

Eleven locations, dozens of disciplines

The format features eleven locations spread throughout the center: Piazza Martiri della Libertà, Corso Matteotti, Piazza Curtatone, Via Lotti, Piazza Cavour, Via Saffi, Via Primo Maggio, Piazza della Concordia, Piazza Belfiore, Piazza del Duomo, and Viale Italia. Each one hosts a variety of disciplines, from football to volleyball, basketball to gymnastics, skating to athletics, as well as karate, boxing, dance, rugby, and motor sports. Dozens of local sports clubs participate in the event, effectively turning the city into a true open-air sports village where families, young people, and enthusiasts can try out sports firsthand or watch performances.

Sports and motors in the city

Alongside traditional disciplines, a special role is reserved for the world of motors, a theme particularly dear to Pontedera, the iconic city of the Vespa. Viale Italia hosts the Vespa club, Moto club, Ciao club, Ape, Guzzi, and vintage cars, with a circuit dedicated to mini Vespas for the little ones. There is no shortage of tournaments and acrobatic shows, such as the "Piero can't jump" basketball tournament and freestyle sports performances in Piazza del Duomo.

Live music until late at night

From 8:30 PM, the White Night changes its face and makes room for live music, with multiple stages active simultaneously in different squares. The party continues until the early hours of the morning, accompanied by concerts, tribute bands, and DJ sets, in a festive atmosphere that involves the entire community.

A celebration for the city and local commerce

Organized by the Municipality of Pontedera in collaboration with Confesercenti Pontedera, the White Night of Sport also represents an important opportunity for the city's economic fabric: shops, bars, and restaurants stay open late, welcoming the thousands of people who fill the center. A free event that combines the promotion of sport, the enhancement of the Valdera territory, and entertainment for all ages.
