The major free summer festival in Calambrone, on the Pisa coastline
When summer arrives, the Pisan coast finds its beating heart at Eliopoli Summer, the major free festival that brings Piazza Antonio Madonna to life for over three months in Calambrone, a seaside district of the Municipality of Pisa in Tuscany. From late June to mid-September, dozens of free evenings fill the square with music, conversation, laughter, and entertainment in one of the most evocative settings on the Pisan coast, just a stone's throw from the sea and the historic former seaside colonies.
Eliopoli Summer began in the summer of 2016 as an integral part of the urban regeneration project for the historic seaside colonies of Calambrone, within the Marenia NonSoloMare program promoted by the Municipality of Pisa to enhance the coastline. Since then, the event has grown year after year, becoming a benchmark for residents and tourists alike and one of the most vibrant summer festivals in the entire Province of Pisa.
The beauty of Eliopoli Summer lies in its variety: a program designed for all ages and tastes. It ranges from live music (singer-songwriter concerts and famous tribute bands) to current affairs and entertainment talk shows, from comedy theater to book presentations, and from shows for children and families to sports-related events. The evenings are divided into several thematic sections, including:
All events offer free admission, a hallmark that has made Eliopoli Summer a popular and beloved phenomenon on the Pisan coast.
Among the most anticipated events is the Lifetime Achievement Award, a recognition that celebrates a major personality from Italian culture and entertainment each year. Over the years, the Calambrone stage has hosted top-tier names in event-evenings that draw large crowds to the seaside square.
Attending Eliopoli Summer means enjoying summer evenings just meters from the beach, between a stroll along the promenade and a show in the square. The event is supported by the Municipality of Pisa, the Tuscany Region, and the Fondazione Pisa, confirming its central role in the territory's summer cultural offerings. For those spending their holidays on the Tuscan coast, it is the perfect opportunity to combine sea, culture, and fun in a single evening.
The eleventh edition of Eliopoli Summer confirms the winning formula of the Pisan coast festival: 55 free events spread over nearly three months, from June 20 to September 13, 2026, in Piazza Antonio Madonna in Calambrone, in the Municipality of Pisa.
The 2026 program ranges from music, theater, and current affairs to meetings, children's shows, comedy, sports, and book presentations. A new addition this year is the Estate con Il Tirreno section, dedicated to current affairs evenings, which joins the well-established Eliopoli tra le Pagine, Notti di Talento, and Eliopoli Incantata sections. The event is supported by the Tuscany Region, the Municipality of Pisa, and the Fondazione Pisa.
The program continues until September 13 with further musical, theatrical, and family events. All events offer free admission.
All events are held in Piazza Antonio Madonna, in the heart of Calambrone, a seaside district of the Municipality of Pisa (ZIP 56128), on the Tuscan coast.
By car: From the SS1 Aurelia or the FI-PI-LI highway, follow the signs for the Pisan coast and Calambrone. Ample parking is available in the seaside area.
By train and bus: Arrive at Pisa Centrale station, then take the coastal bus lines (Autolinee Toscane) in the direction of Tirrenia/Calambrone.
By plane: The Pisa International Airport "Galileo Galilei" is just a few kilometers away.
All shows offer free admission. Evenings generally begin late; arriving early is recommended to secure a seat.
