The trail running race around the Corno Bianco, between Aldino and the Bletterbach Gorge
The Weißhorn Skytrail is a trail running race that brings mountain running enthusiasts to Aldino/Aldein, a small mountain village in the south of South Tyrol (Province of Bolzano), every September. Two courses of varying difficulty wind around the Corno Bianco (Weißhorn), the iconic panoramic peak that gives the event its name, crossing alpine trails, forest roads, and breathtaking viewpoints. The start and finish are set at the Aldino sports center, which for one day becomes a true celebration of mountain sports for both participants and spectators.
The event offers two tracks designed for different skill levels:
Organized by ASV Aldein Raiffeisen (Amateursportverein Aldein) with timekeeping by Sport Dolomiti, the Weißhorn Skytrail is a young event that has already gained a strong following in the South Tyrolean Sky Race calendar. The first edition took place in 2025 and immediately captivated runners thanks to its unique natural setting, which combines the high altitudes of the Corno Bianco with the depths of the Bletterbach Gorge.
More than just a race, the Weißhorn Skytrail is a way to discover one of the most authentic corners of South Tyrol (Südtirol). The Aldino area, located in the South Tyrol's South tourist destination, blends traditional mountain farming, forests, and pastures with an exceptional geological heritage. The event aims to promote outdoor sports alongside sustainable tourism, showcasing the trails and landscapes of the local municipality.
The 2026 Weißhorn Skytrail will take place on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in Aldino/Aldein (Province of Bolzano). This edition confirms the two tracks that defined the event: the long Weißhorn Skytrail (27 km, approx. 1,480 m elevation gain) with the Corno Bianco traverse, and the Bletterbach Experience (16 km, approx. 800 m elevation gain) which crosses the Bletterbach Gorge. Both races start and finish at the Aldino sports center.
The event is organized by ASV Aldein Raiffeisen, with timing by Sport Dolomiti. Registrations and race rules are published on the official website.
Final times will be confirmed by the organization on the official website in the weeks leading up to the race.
Aldino/Aldein can be reached by car from the A22 Brenner motorway (exit Egna/Ora or Bolzano Sud), then driving up towards the plateau. The starting point is the Aldino sports center, at Via Campo sportivo 15.
Registrations are handled via the Sport Dolomiti portal; race rules and GPX tracks for both routes are available on the official website. For information: [email protected], tel. +39 335 1731115.
As these are high-altitude alpine routes, appropriate equipment and good physical preparation are required, particularly for the 27 km long course. A gear check is scheduled before the start.
