Walking in the Heart of Octavia is a series of guided tours dedicated to discovering the beauty and curiosities of Scarnafigi, a village in the Cuneo plains, in the heart of Piedmont. The initiative, promoted by the Associazione Octavia in collaboration with Turismo in Langa APS, invites residents and tourists to rediscover a territory that preserves a significant historical, artistic, and cultural identity.

The Octavia territory

Scarnafigi occupies a central position in the Octavia territory, a network that brings together numerous municipalities of the so-called «Middle Lands» of the plains between Cuneo, Saluzzo, and Savigliano. The village is laid out with a characteristic circular street plan around the parish church and the large castle with its red-brick facade, the town's most recognizable symbol.

The tour route

The meeting point is at the Punto Octavia, housed in the former Confraternity of Santa Croce: a multimedia space dedicated to telling the history of the territory and providing keys to understanding the local identity. From here, the route winds through the historic center, touching upon sites that narrate the civil, religious, and institutional history of the town:

• the courtyard of the Scarnafigi Castle, which preserves precious architectural features;
• the parish church of the Beata Vergine Assunta, the religious hub of the village;
• the Town Hall, the heart of institutional life;
• a concluding deep dive into the territory at the Punto Octavia.

The final tasting

At the end of each visit, a tasting is planned in collaboration with the Bar del Castello: a convivial moment designed to celebrate local food and wine excellence and conclude the experience in an atmosphere of hospitality and sharing, values that characterize Piedmontese welcome.

An opportunity to get to know the Cuneo plains

The event is an excellent opportunity to get closer to the culture, traditions, and gastronomy of an area of Piedmont still little known to mainstream tourism. Thanks to the commitment of the Associazione Octavia, Scarnafigi and neighboring villages propose a model of slow and authentic tourism, focused on the enhancement of the local heritage and memory.
