About Walk for Life

The Walk for Life is a non-competitive 5 km charity walk held every summer. Starting in Strembo, in the heart of Val Rendena (Trento province), the route winds through the villages of Bocenago and Caderzone Terme. Launched in 2021 and organized by the local Pro Loco associations, the event donates all proceeds to the Amici del Paolin Association to support children with rare genetic diseases and people with disabilities. Participants gather in front of the Strembo Town Hall, home to the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, for a morning in the open air among meadows, woods, and the peaks of the Brenta Dolomites.

The Walk for Life, starting from Strembo

The Walk for Life is a non-competitive charity walk that takes place every summer in Strembo, a small village in the Val Rendena valley in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). The route crosses the nearby villages of Bocenago and Caderzone Terme. The meeting point and start are set in front of the Strembo Town Hall, the heart of a village of just over five hundred inhabitants nestled at an altitude of 714 meters, where the Ruina stream flows into the Sarca river. The flat, 5-kilometer route winds through a beautiful natural setting of meadows, spruce forests, and views of the Brenta Dolomites.

An event born from solidarity

The initiative was launched in 2021 and has quickly become a deeply felt event for the valley's communities, uniting people of all ages in the spirit of solidarity. The walk is organized jointly by the Pro Loco associations of Strembo, Bocenago, and Caderzone Terme, which set up refreshment points and welcome areas along the route. All proceeds are donated to the Amici del Paolin Association, founded in 2017 in memory of Paolo Giardini, which supports projects for children with rare genetic diseases, people with disabilities, and their families.

Strembo, home to the Adamello Brenta Nature Park

Strembo is a village with ancient origins, documented as far back as the 1300s. The town features traditional architecture, sloping streets, and old Rendena-style houses. It also hosts the headquarters of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, the largest protected area in Trentino. Starting here gives the walk added value: you discover an authentic corner of Val Rendena, far from the tourist crowds of Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo, while promoting cohesion between the three communities of Strembo, Bocenago, and Caderzone Terme.

A day of celebration and charity

The Walk for Life is part of a weekend entirely dedicated to solidarity: the day before, the town hosts A Party for Everyone, another charity initiative linked to the Amici del Paolin Association. After the walk, the afternoon continues with a burraco tournament at the Caderzone Terme Oratory, rounding off a day of fun and fundraising. All participants receive a souvenir gift, often a local specialty.

The event is suitable for families, casual walkers, and anyone wishing to contribute to a good cause while spending a few hours in the nature of Val Rendena.

Walk for Life — edition 2026

The 6th edition of the Walk for Life was held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, with participants gathering in front of the Strembo Town Hall at 9:30 AM and the walk starting at 10:00 AM. The non-competitive 5 km route crossed the villages of Strembo, Bocenago, and Caderzone Terme, finishing at Parco Crosetta in Caderzone Terme. All proceeds were donated to the Amici del Paolin Association.
