The charity walk starting from Strembo, in the heart of Val Rendena
The Walk for Life is a non-competitive charity walk that takes place every summer in Strembo, a small village in the Val Rendena valley in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). The route crosses the nearby villages of Bocenago and Caderzone Terme. The meeting point and start are set in front of the Strembo Town Hall, the heart of a village of just over five hundred inhabitants nestled at an altitude of 714 meters, where the Ruina stream flows into the Sarca river. The flat, 5-kilometer route winds through a beautiful natural setting of meadows, spruce forests, and views of the Brenta Dolomites.
The initiative was launched in 2021 and has quickly become a deeply felt event for the valley's communities, uniting people of all ages in the spirit of solidarity. The walk is organized jointly by the Pro Loco associations of Strembo, Bocenago, and Caderzone Terme, which set up refreshment points and welcome areas along the route. All proceeds are donated to the Amici del Paolin Association, founded in 2017 in memory of Paolo Giardini, which supports projects for children with rare genetic diseases, people with disabilities, and their families.
Strembo is a village with ancient origins, documented as far back as the 1300s. The town features traditional architecture, sloping streets, and old Rendena-style houses. It also hosts the headquarters of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, the largest protected area in Trentino. Starting here gives the walk added value: you discover an authentic corner of Val Rendena, far from the tourist crowds of Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo, while promoting cohesion between the three communities of Strembo, Bocenago, and Caderzone Terme.
The Walk for Life is part of a weekend entirely dedicated to solidarity: the day before, the town hosts A Party for Everyone, another charity initiative linked to the Amici del Paolin Association. After the walk, the afternoon continues with a burraco tournament at the Caderzone Terme Oratory, rounding off a day of fun and fundraising. All participants receive a souvenir gift, often a local specialty.
The event is suitable for families, casual walkers, and anyone wishing to contribute to a good cause while spending a few hours in the nature of Val Rendena.
The sixth edition of the Walk for Life took place on Sunday, July 5, 2026, starting from Strembo. The meeting point was set for 9:30 AM in front of the Strembo Town Hall, with registration, initial refreshments, and greetings from local authorities, while the walk began at 10:00 AM. The non-competitive, 5-kilometer route passed through the villages of Strembo, Bocenago, and Caderzone Terme, ending at Parco Crosetta in Caderzone Terme, with refreshment points set up along the way by the three Pro Loco associations.
The participation fee was 10 euros (free for children), with a souvenir gift of a local product for all registered participants. In the afternoon, at 2:30 PM, a burraco tournament was held at the Caderzone Terme Oratory. All proceeds were donated to the Amici del Paolin Association to support people with disabilities and children with rare diseases. The walk was preceded on Saturday, July 4, by the charity event A Party for Everyone, also in support of the Paolin association.
Strembo can be reached by car via the SS239 Val Rendena road; from Trento, follow the Sarca Valley towards Tione and Pinzolo. The nearest train station is Trento, which is connected by an intercity bus service to Val Rendena. The meeting point is in front of the Strembo Town Hall.
The participation fee is approximately 10 euros per person and includes a souvenir gift; children generally participate for free. The meeting is at 9:30 AM with the walk starting in the late morning. Advance registration by contacting the organizing Pro Loco associations is recommended.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and layered clothing suitable for mountain weather. The route is flat and suitable for everyone, including families.
