The summer festival of the Musikkapelle Aldein, featuring brass band concerts and South Tyrolean specialties in the Bassa Atesina region.
The Voldeiner Musifest is the most anticipated summer event in Aldino/Aldein, a small mountain village nestled on the Regglberg plateau in the Bassa Atesina, in the Province of Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige). Organized by the Musikkapelle Aldein, the local brass band, the event transforms the Festplatz for two days into a lively open-air meeting point where wind music meets the typical hospitality of South Tyrolean villages.
The heart of the festival is the brass band concerts: every year, the Musikkapelle Aldein invites various guest bands from nearby towns and beyond, creating a program that alternates traditional Blasmusik repertoire with more modern pieces. This is a deeply rooted tradition throughout South Tyrol, where brass bands are a vibrant expression of popular culture and a permanent fixture at every community celebration.
The Musikkapelle Aldein was founded on May 25, 1913, when several singers from the parish choir, supported by assistant priest Father Emmerich Pircher, decided to accompany the village processions with music. The first major founding festival, celebrated on July 26, 1914, already attracted six guest bands and hundreds of people: an unprecedented event in the village's history. Since then, the band has spanned over a century of history, celebrating its anniversaries and marking its 111th birthday in 2024. Since 2023, the Musikkapelle has been conducted by maestro Michael Erschbamer and is part of the VSM, the Union of South Tyrolean Brass Bands.
In addition to the concerts, the Voldeiner Musifest offers a wide range of local culinary specialties: traditional South Tyrolean dishes, homemade desserts, and drinks served by band members and local volunteers. The atmosphere is that of an authentic mountain village festival, where families, music lovers, and visitors gather in a festive and genuine spirit.
Aldino/Aldein is a quiet mountain village in the Province of Bolzano, immersed in the greenery of the Regglberg and surrounded by forests and hiking trails. Its strong cultural identity, tied to musical and religious traditions, makes the Voldeiner Musifest much more than just a concert: it is a celebration that strengthens the sense of community and showcases the rich brass band heritage of South Tyrol.
The Voldeiner Musifest 2026 took place on Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the Festplatz in Aldino/Aldein, on the Regglberg in the Bassa Atesina. The festival, organized by the Musikkapelle Aldein, once again offered a weekend dedicated to Blasmusik, with concerts by local brass bands and guest ensembles from near and far.
Alongside the music, the public enjoyed local culinary specialties in the festival area managed by the band members, in a spirit of community celebration that brings the entire mountain village and visitors from the surrounding areas together every summer.
Aldino/Aldein can be reached by car from the Bassa Atesina by heading up towards the Regglberg; the nearest exit on the A22 Brenner motorway is Egna/Ora (Neumarkt/Auer), from where you continue along the mountain road. By train, the reference station is Ora/Auer, which is connected by SAD/SASA bus lines.
The festival takes place at the Aldino Festplatz, featuring a large dining area managed by the band. For updated dates, times, and programs, it is recommended to check the official website of the Musikkapelle Aldein (mk-aldein.com) or the band's Facebook page.
