A mountain Advent in the heart of Trodena, among alleys, cellars, and South Tyrolean traditions
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Trudner Bergadvent is the pre-Christmas event in Trodena im Naturpark, a small village of just over a thousand inhabitants perched in the mountains of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, in Trentino-Alto Adige. Here, Advent is not the usual crowded fair: it is a Christmas «as it used to be», experienced at a leisurely pace in the alleys and cellars of the historic center, in the shadow of the San Biagio parish church bell tower.
Trodena is located in the heart of the Monte Corno Nature Park (Naturpark Trudner Horn), about a dozen kilometers from Ora, surrounded by forests and the snow-capped peaks of the southern side of South Tyrol. It is this silent and pristine setting that gives the Bergadvent its character: a small, atmospheric market where you take the time to look, listen, and savor.
Among the narrow streets and ancient cellars of the village, you will find craft stalls, demonstrations of ancient trades, and the charming «Opas Weihnachtswerkstatt», the grandfather's Christmas workshop. There is also a petting zoo designed for children, food stalls with South Tyrolean specialties and hot drinks, a nativity scene exhibition, and concerts in the parish church.
The Bergadvent is deeply rooted in the Alpine customs of South Tyrol. Among the most anticipated moments are the Krampus run (Krampuslauf), featuring the Tuifl of Trodena and groups from neighboring villages, the arrival of Saint Nicholas with gifts for children, and the tradition of «Scheldern», the characteristic procession through the village streets. These are rituals that tell the South Tyrolean soul of this mountain community.
Organized by the Südtirols Süden tourist region together with local associations, tradition groups, and merchants, the Trudner Bergadvent is designed for those seeking an authentic Advent away from the crowds. An opportunity to discover one of the most genuine villages in South Tyrol during the most magical time of the year.
At the moment, the official dates for the 2026 edition of the Trudner Bergadvent have not yet been published. The event is usually held in December, during Advent, in the alleys and cellars of the historic center of Trodena im Naturpark, in the Monte Corno Nature Park.
As in previous editions, you can expect an intimate market with crafts, ancient trades, South Tyrolean gastronomic specialties, a petting zoo, and Alpine traditions such as the Krampuslauf, Saint Nicholas, and church concerts. Information will be updated as soon as the Südtirols Süden tourist region releases the official program.
