The youth choral festival at the Church of San Marcellino in Envie
Voci in Fiore is the choral festival that brings the San Marcellino parish church to life every spring in Envie, a small town in the Province of Cuneo, in the heart of Piedmont. The event is organized by the Envie de Chanter association, a long-standing reference point for promoting young local voices, and stems from the desire to foster dialogue between different choral groups through musical exchange and meetings between young people who share the same passion: the joy of singing together.
The Voci in Fiore format is based on hospitality: the youth and children's choirs of Envie de Chanter welcome a guest choral group each year, often from other parts of Piedmont and beyond. It is a precious opportunity for young singers to engage with other experiences, expand their repertoire, and experience music as a tool for friendship and growth. The program weaves together pieces from different eras and genres, from international choral music to ethnic songs, pop, and folk music.
Founded in October 2004, the Envie de Chanter choir takes its name from a play on words between the town of Envie and the "desire to sing" (voglia di cantare) that unites its members. Over the years, the association has developed into two sections: the children's choir, for the youngest, and the youth choir, which brings together local teenagers. Directed by maestros Alessandra Castelli and Flavio Fraire, the choir celebrated its first twenty years of activity in 2024, marked by dozens of concerts both within and outside the Province of Cuneo.
Voci in Fiore offers free admission, though the evening often includes a fundraiser for local charitable organizations. For those visiting the Valle Bronda and the Saluzzo area in spring, it is an authentic opportunity to discover the cultural vibrancy of small Piedmontese towns and to listen to the new generation of choristers in a place of great charm like the church of San Marcellino.
The 2026 edition of Voci in Fiore confirmed the festival's vocation for exchange between youth choral groups. Following the previous year's experience with the children's choir from Pinerolo, the Envie de Chanter association invited the Soleri-Bertoni Choir from Saluzzo to Envie, a group composed of about fifty high school students.
The evening, with free admission, was also an opportunity for solidarity, with a fundraiser for AISM Cuneo.
